What bothers me with this one is the complete lack of interest from any other club. If he was that good a prospect you’d think a couple of Championship clubs would be in for him at the very least.

I agree, it's difficult to go from A to C without going through B. We cannot magic players out of nothing although, academy excepted, I would like to see more of Dougie waving the wand which saw him discovering the likes of Bolasie back in the day.

Sometimes it's worth taking a punt on a young play from the lower leagues, Palace can see some potential, probably needs more development but must be a very good player in there. don't think there was a queue behind Spurs when they bought Dele Ali, so wouldn't worry too much about lack of interest from other clubs. Worst case he's still young enough too have a sell on value if he proves us wrong in a couple of years.

Still could come The trail seems to have cold so far as Downes and Palace are concerned, with no hint of any further bids as yet, and Downes is currently out of the Ipswich first team. I wonder if he is still on the Palace radar, or we have gone on to other targets? ITK needed if possible!
