Another big factor people seem to forget in this, is that we didn’t just get rid of him, he had another loan stint in Belgium and was very poor. It was at that stage that Palace decided that he wasn’t fit or purpose. So basically 18 months they watched him play before deciding to move him on.

It doesn't matter if he was s*** for us or not - there should have been a better loan agreement signed

They might not have signed it if we had.

At the time, Freedman was probably given an instruction to get rid of him for as much as possible.

Most Palace fans would have ripped a clubs hands off for £6m.

Don’t care what anyone says this was a “shockingly appalling” deal...!!

Someone picked me up previous post and my reference to Wright and Vardy being unrelated - point I was making that both Wright and Vardy “broke through late”...!!

So on that basis - how do you dismiss a 23 year old with know recall clause..!!!

As I said previously incompetent contractual negotiations..!!

have to agree. He came over to a new country to play in one of the hardest leagues so it was always going to take him time to adjust.
He was also very young so that has to taken into account too.
Some players respond to the hairdryer others need an arm around them - he always looked the latter to me.

Think we got rid quite quickly - the fact that the 2 year loan deal doesn't have a clause for Palace to get him back say after 12 months seem ridiculous to me.

it shows the naivety of Parish, the arrogance of Roy and the incompetence of Dougie.

Exactly... you hedge your bets and cover your arse..Add to that the acute shortage of recognised strikers we have it beggars belief !

After watching his performances with us, I think swapping him for a hairdryer is a darn good deal for us!

you forgot the recital of readily-available facts and information, such as 'Eddie was assistant head coach at Premier League side Chelsea to manager Roberto Di Matteo before the latter was replaced by Rafael Benítez'.

As well as completely irrelevant information such as ‘he passed his driving test in a silver Vauxhall Astra’ and the soporific musings of, ’If my memory serves me right...As a player, he was a defensive midfielder from 1990 until 2001 notably for Chelsea where he scored in the 1997 FA Cup final. He also played in the Football League for Cardiff City, Birmingham City, Oxford United and Barnet and in the Conference National for Hayes. He also earnt two caps for the England U21 side.’

...And no doubt had it on good authority from a number of sources a few days ago that Eddie Newton was to be appointed the new manager of Trabzonspor.
