You might also understand that those 18 year olds are getting paid a lot of money because they have a rare ability to excel in the world's most popular game. Why does that make them less deserving of riches than top bankers or lawyers? Well for a start a top banker or Lawyer earns around 1m a year and the many years of study and dedication to their field gives them the discipline and humility to deal with that status and the earnings that go along with it.

So In summary, these 18yr olds you speak of are in many cases earning multiples more than Bankers or Lawyers yet it takes people in that profession many years (sometimes decades) of study, hard work and climbing the ladder to reach the top. So they have earned their position through hard work and discipline. The spoiled little brats that might or might not be the next Messi (99 times out of 100 NOT!) have it given on a plate and then think they are above everyone else and the rules we all live by as a result.

Always easy to spend someone else’s money. Would/have any of the salaries types on here take a voluntary pay cut to help the cause? How much?

Premiership footballers are mostly from the working classes but their wages are evidence that they are no better than wall street traders. When Jimmy Hill and co did away with the wages cap I think most of us agreed that the players deserved a higher percent. However, as usual, the power shift went too far the other way. Now it's just another one of those factors that limits lower league clubs rising and threatening the long term cabal of clubs at the top.

This might just be a golden opportunity to level up the scales a bit. Cant see lower league players getting more but I for one would be very happy to see top level players get considerably less.

The reason they earn so much is because of Sky TV’s monopoly. This is what people should remember when they say ‘market forces.’ There’s also no regulation and capitalism needs regulation or you get greed or exploitation ruining a good thing. There isn’t the need for people to be paying so much to watch football now we have broadband etc and no need for satellite dishes and resources making them and fitting them. The next possible monopoly might be Amazon. It’s probably better than clubs having their own games on their own channels/websites. That will widen the gap between big and smaller clubs.

I agree with you but Sky don’t have a monopoly. There is also BT Sport and now Amazon.

Sky have a very high percentage of the games. Yes they do which makes it even more annoying when a game is on one of the other ones.
