We need a midfield general able to stop and hold the ball to give attackers (if this is what we have) to get into position. Push and run worked in the 60's but doesn't now.

This is what happens when you have owners who get complacent - how we can stay up every year but spend as little as possible on the squad. . Made even worse when we sell our top player for £50m and fail to re-invest any money into the first team. We kind of deserve to go down really - Who would pay to watch this?

Benteke looks like he has lead boots on, can't even deal with what are essentially championship defenders from last season. This is as bad as it gets! I thought he was our best player! Making himself available and accurately passing the ball forward are attributes we can't attach to anyone else in the shirt. He's even created an opportunity to take a shot for himself.

Any more of this abject boring play and I will seriously think about giving my season ticket away.Us supporters were bored rigid at home last season, had to endure total and utter dross and it appears nothing will change.No entertainment or excitement at all.

I would love to know what the point of training is because at the moment there's not one person out there that appears to have a clue what to do. There are at least five that are stealing a wage.

Seriously how can anyone use Benteke in a sentence in this game the service to him up top from wide positions is dreadful the poor guy has no support the performance from the team is dreadful. I am watching from the Florida and even the commentators here are saying they feel so sorry for Benteke as he gets so much stick in return for very little service. When will people understand that strikers need service to score goals and in that first half what service have we delivered. Come on if you are going to criticise then let’s be realistic in our criticism.

Another season of this then. Void of creativity and conviction. Holding out for the draw or the 1-0. A combination of unambiguous signings, selling and not having replacements and a manager who thinks “oh s***, this isn’t working, well I’ll just keep trying the same thing until it does”. Be inventive Roy! Same poor show, wouldn’t expect anything less at this point. Maybe we will have the classic palace second half and get going, but who knows
