The scouting structure - as told to me via an agent - is this. Team of 10 full time reporting into DF. 3 technical data analysts lead by Ben Stevens 7 full time scouts covering UK and Europe 5 regional part time UK scouts Maybe they should just employ Mattteo to write his lists and the other 14 to read them

Which on one hand is great as it highlights fifteen people involved in recruitment (not including the Manager, assistants, coaching staff and DF) On the other hand it is frightening, considering some of what they have come up with in recent transfer windows; Sorloth, Rakip, Jach, Riedewald, Ayew plus the re-signing of Sako etc. I don't know if its the same now, but when the Harris brothers were on the books at Palace, their Dad was employed as a part time scout. Whether that was as an incentive to get them to sign at the time or not I don't know but it wouldn't surprise me if some of the part time scouts are similar set ups.

I'm not sure that it's an era thing but each club does things differently. Sean Dyche is rumoured to have complete control over all footballing matters including transfers and I can't imagine Alex Ferguson quietly putting up with a player being foisted upon him that he didn't want. I think that it's a Palace thing where the manager gives the Sporting Director and Chairman a list of whom he wants and they get him someone else. Or did Hodgson really ask for Jach and Radip my turn to pull you up on your spelling … Rakip not Radip … you have him halfway to being a 'radish' this may have been a Freudian slip and as such was a valid contribution to this thread however

The question is why you feel the need to defend Parish and the club on every given occasion no matter what the subject It's not a case of defending Parish,he is quiet capable of doing that himself, but doesn't seem to appear on podcasts now. As everything he says is twisted to suit some people's agenda.

can somebody tell me what DF has actually done wrong to deserve the level of criticism he is subject to?

nothing wrong, or are you suggesting somebody goes to work everyday & achieves nothing in return for a huge wage. how do you know what info his team put forward aith regards to potential signings. jach & rakip were cheap punts, akin to dave martin & tony craig. ok, sloth & jairo were more expensive punts that havnt worked so far, but are both young and potentially could become decent squad players. last season guiata / meyer / kouyate were all decent signings for only £10m combined outlay...if your being honest you would actually say that last summers transfer buisness was extremely good. we cant judge this summers window based on the fact we have no signings yet, because the window isnt closed. there is so much negativity being displayed its unreal...if we are all being completely honest we could make no signings and still be clear of relegation next season.

Deluded is the word you're looking for, not honest. As for sloth and Jiaro being decent squad players, are you for real?

its a bit defeatist to simply write him off based on what, a few hundred minutes of football....he may never do it but hes got age on his side to improve.
