There's an argument to be made that China wouldn't want this kind of brain drain to take place. I'm sure they could throw a spanner in the works if they want to.

I'm not sure why you think the UK government would want to limit immigration though. They never did and they never do unless forced as with Brexit. It's a dream come true for them to find people that there's actually popular support for giving residency to. Get that DNA paint palette out again lads. Time to add a little more Chan to the canvas.

I just try to be even handed. The global press are hoping for a very violent incident here so they can report tragedy. The Hong Kong police are really caught in the middle of this. The one weakness of democracy is its tolerance of knobends so they know they can get away with it here.
