You have been watching too many Marvel movies and know little about genetic sequencing. Originally posted by Badger11
I think it is only a matter of time before someone invents a weapon that targets people based on their genes. This type of weapon would be far more dangerous than nuclear weapons. Imagining being able to target a subset of the world population with little risk to your own people. Not a happy thought.

I doubt the UK Govt is seriously contemplating having 3 million BNO passport holders and their families arrive for permanent settlement in UK over the next five years. Edited by HKOwen (02 Jul 2020 1.50am) There's an argument to be made that China wouldn't want this kind of brain drain to take place. I'm sure they could throw a spanner in the works if they want to. I'm not sure why you think the UK government would want to limit immigration though. They never did and they never do unless forced as with Brexit. It's a dream come true for them to find people that there's actually popular support for giving residency to. Get that DNA paint palette out again lads. Time to add a little more Chan to the canvas.

IMHO the UK Govt let many people down badly in the lead up to 1997. The BNO passport was a knee jerk invention to give holders the right to enter the UK and stay for a few months to " visit ". Any other purpose such as work on permanent settlement required the appropriate visas. Basically, a document that allowed the holders to enter the UK, as I recall it did not give any consular protection. I doubt the UK Govt is seriously contemplating having 3 million BNO passport holders and their families arrive for permanent settlement in UK over the next five years. I will get criticised for this but the global media seldom or never shows the extreme violence by rioters in HK last year. Similarly no one has showed the photo of the policeman who was badly stabbed yesterday. The police are really in a difficult position. Commentators are saying " vandalism to public transport " is now considered terrorism. Last year the subway system was very badly damaged, stations set on fire and very serious damage done.Rubbish thrown on tracks to try and derail trains. Whether you define this as terrorism is a discussion but it is certainly very dangerous. Similarly buses were hijacked and used as barricades to block roads. What we need here is calm Edited by HKOwen (02 Jul 2020 1.50am) Thank you for your informed comments. I visited HK in 2001, and although under Chinese rule, there was no noticeable change. Proper news from Hong Kong won't be via mainstream media. It's going to be via social media and posters like HK Owen.

I just try to be even handed. The global press are hoping for a very violent incident here so they can report tragedy. The Hong Kong police are really caught in the middle of this. If they collapse we will have PLA gendarmerie here.

The one weakness of democracy is its tolerance of knobends so they know they can get away with it here.

That's exactly right. We're a soft touch. They wouldn't mess with China or Russia, because they won't tolerate this kind of nonsense.

I suspect that many countries including China seethe things such as whole BLM saga as a manifestation of Western insanity. The back pedalling from the band wagon jumpers is bordering on farcical. The fact these organisations were either incompetent or stupid in a race to appear full of virtue has been well made. The Premier League and Sky in particular, was just BAU for the BBC Slight divergence from main topic

The capitalist superpower. The loony left went crazy when Trump visited the UK but were silent on Xi Jinping's state visit.

A man who stabbed and seriously wounded a police officer on July 1 was arrested sitting on a Cathay Pacific flight literally about to take off for London, stuff of movies. A 50,000 pound reward was put up by a businessman and police received a tip off from one of the guy's relatives. Hong Kong has not lost his entrepreneurial spirit
