Not my choice of replacement, but my word it's far better than Carl Jenkinson.

And this is the thing.. You know we would probably end up with someone like Jenkinson!!

A fit on form Clyne is a fine replacement for AWB... Just hope we dont get our pants pulled down on the price like Liverpool normally do to us!

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

If we manage to get Clyne and Reece James on loan or outright purchase, that would cover AWB’s departure OK

nO POINT.. dont let them over inflate price.. I really like Clyne at Palace, but he was poor against us last game of last season!!

And Liverpool will want a decent slice of the money we did get for AWB. They won't be willing to give any bargains.

If we can get Clyne for 10 million or so then he can be a good signing for us. Bournemouth's defence was awful last season so I wouldn't judge him on that.

For the fullbacks I think a lot does seem to depend on who is in the middle. AWB and even PvA looked much better when Sakho and Tomkins started. They both seem to marshal the defence better, whereas Dann and Kelly seem to lack that bit of authority (perhaps because of lack of game time in the case of the former). If we can get the Clyne of old then anything up to 15m would seem fine, but as there's a risk he isn't what he was I would say perhaps 10m is more reasonable. The key thing given that everyone knows our situation is that we have plenty of irons in the fire so we don't end up paying a premium. Hopefully, as someone said elsewhere, Jenkinson is a smokescreen.

Agreed. ‘Rumour has it’ that we have bids in both for Castaigne and James. One of these plus Clyne would be excellent. However, I personally think we also need an upgrade at LB. PVA is excellent going forward but vulnerable defensively and Schlupp seems to have settled into a left midfield slot. Incidentally if we do get McCarthy, then maybe he could cover the left midfielder slot, leaving Schlupp to focus more on LB?

We will only buy one RB to be in front of Ward.

We won’t be buying any more LB’s unless PVA leaves.

Ooh, I bet Steve's bargain senses are tingling. We can probably get him for £10 million now!

And he’d probably still be better than Jenkinson
