In regards to vaping I have read some articles recently that think they are no better than fags and that they contain harmful toxins/chemicals which cause health issues. They produce a ridiculous amount of steam and look totally stupid as well.

Would rather stand next to a smoker than a vaper at a bus stop as at least fag smoke disperses fairly quickly and doesn't smell of rhubarb and custard or whatever daft flavours they come up with

I'm thinking of giving up smoking. I'm not at all a heavy smoker - around 5 rollies a day. I'm worried about vaping as I don't want to be more addicted than I already am. My main reason to give up is my kids. My father never smoked but died of cancer when I was young.
Has anyone tried giving up and vaping instead?

I packed in the fags over 3 years ago in favour of vaping. I appreciate there is no proof it is better/worse that cigs but with no tar or carbon monoxide, surely it can't be any worse (and far cheaper).

Your point about being more addicted is a valid concern. I vape quite liberally now although my nicotine intake is still quite low. Next step is to drop to 0%.

I will warn you it is addictive and very enjoyable, very easy to carry it with you and use all the time.

If you do move to vaping, be a considerate one like me. I don't use it when close to others as the clouds are pretty anti social. I regularly see c*nts vaping with people right behind them, being totally clouded in vapour.

Good luck

Thats my point.
Irrelavent of their own personal experiences.
Choice is diminishing in life.
If you dont want to do something perfectly legal fine but having a pop at people that do is certainly not fine.

Seriously?

I refer you to my previous post.
Smokers are addicts. You don't 'like' smoking, you need it.
Don't confuse the two Mr Nicotine.

You are a very brave man or perhaps just very stupid if you want to die of emphysema. Fighting for breath for months until your heart finally gives out.
I have seen it close up and you don't want to choose that as a way to go.

Yes I agree, it's a relief from the stress that builds through nicotine withdrawal, so people may well like smoking, but primarily due to how they feel when they're not smoking.

It's one of the more insidious drug addictions because there is a mundane 'who's it hurting' quality to it, until reality dawns. It's internal self harm. Of course there are other ways to get there, eating yourself to death, drinking yourself to death, but they all have ongoing signs and symptoms that things are going badly wrong. When the effects of smoking kick in it's often sudden and like a tonne of bricks. There's not much 'I like it' from that point on though.

I've done the same. You can get low vapour liquids as well as low nicotine ones, which produce less than a cigarette would (see Vapemate: which is where I get my supplies from).

The other great thing with vaping is that you can slowly reduce your nicotine content levels, which staves off the weight increase that so many get if they simply stop altogether.

How would you choose to go then.
The majority of smokers don’t get these illnesses.
It is more likely if youre going to get it but not a guarantee.
Like I say what is a good way to go.
Bus train stabbed shot
Just laying in a bed with all your folks around you with jelly and ice cream, fun fair feelings.
Heart attack in front of your family.
I knew some fit and healthy people and they are dead
3 direct relatives and friends as well, basically when the big man up top drags your number out. You is gone mate.
Think like that and hope it isn’t your number and live life don’t covert it as it’s not long enough to worry about.
Morbid enough now.?
Get real.
We will all want one more breath but sadly we have a shelf life.
We’ve all got it coming and nagging people to live to a 135 years old doesn’t cut it.
I could get asbestosis with my apprenticeship on building sites.
But no doubt it will be “ he smoked”
And funnily enough I do like smoking, do no alcoholics like drinking then?

As you age your thinking about it doesn't ..you will find that no matter how old you are you will still feel exactly the same about it.
I am a type one diabetic and I watched my mum deteriorate with it terribly because in her day having help with surgery checks ups and blood monitoring machines wasn't available, I understand the dangers of ignoring health issues when no issues are presented because high blood sugars take time to damage the body just the same as smoking, obesity and alcohol because you feel OK ..and I smoked from age sixteen to twenty one ..about forty a day towards the end so I know about being addicted.
I work with people of all ages young to the very old so have plenty of experience with issues.

Quote The majority of smokers don’t get these illnesses.

Smoking does your health no favours even if it doesn't kill you, so I'm not sure of this idea that the majority of smokers breeze through inhaling smoke and poison unharmed like something out of a dream.

"the risk of developing lung cancer is about 23 times higher in male smokers compared to non-smokers; smoking is associated with increased risk of at least 15 types of cancer"

And that's cancer alone. I'm sure we all have family members with COPD and losing limbs due to messing up veins isn't even remotely rare.

"A study of more than 200,000 people, published this week in BMC medicine, found about 67 percent of smokers perished from smoking-related illness." - [Link]

'we have a shelf life' 'when your numbers up'.. None of these cliches mean anything.

It's simple to just say, 'I'm going to smoke because I want to and I'm addicted, and I'm willing to take any health implications on the chin and any misery or illness smoking brings my family due to me wiping out my own health is tough sh!t because smoking is my number one'.

That's the reality for addicts of anything. That's 'getting real'. All of this dragging healthy people dying young into it or imagining yourself potentially getting stabbed or run over as reason why you should light up and abuse your own health is just cobbled together justification for a cr@p health choice. Addict mentally in full force.
