What's wrong with teaching Roman numerals? I presume you were taught them? I certainly was. They were still the standard way of adding up when I went to school. Had to go to school on Saturday mornings to study Latin, I kid you not Of course, in those days we were very keen to reverse immigration, Romani ite Domum.

I had to go to evening classes in Selhurst to learn to touch type when I was in my thirties. Even now I don't think many schools teach it. Still, time better spent on learning Roman numerals because you come across them so often. Or maybe we could learn binary instead, at least that does have a current use.

I think you’ll find that non binary is all the rage these days.

I suppose you think that teaching Latin is pointless, too.

For some people this simple truth somehow never hits home As someone that left teaching a very long time ago, when Ashburton was still a school, I don't feel sufficiently informed to make that determination. I do believe the TES is in a reasonable place to give an informed view, however. I suggest you direct your question to that august publication. Edited by Mapletree (19 Nov 2018 12.45pm)

If we got our territorial waters back & not the piddling 12 miles the EU has permitted us under a licence we have to reapply for every 10 years our fishing industry would be worth 2 billion a year. Laugh at it all you want but what the EU has done to our fishing fleets is a disgrace.
