Worried about new keeper. Parried two shots, first one resulted in goal, so no improvement on Hennessey.
We made them look good for first 10 minutes but slowly improved. Thought Bostock as good as any we have, slotted accurate passes out to the wings and played the full 90 minutes. Toulouse made about 8 subs. Kouyate not on for long and misplaced his first two passes to the opposition.
Our biggest failing?
As always a lack of a midfield general.
If Meyer IS the 'wonder kid' then he is much needed there .....

That's a joke, right?

No, he was assured on the ball, moved intelligently, was unhurried and passed well. Much of our game harked back to Arthur Rowe's 'push and run' style of treasured memory when what we need is a ball-holder in the style of Fabrigas, Wilshere. Hopefully it will be Meyer.

The supoorters of most clubs would be more than happy with a 4-1 win, but not at Palace. IF anyone from the club's management/ownership actually read some of the comments on here (which they don't), they'd feel like smashing their collective heads against the nearest wall.

And what you actually said was "thought Bostock as good as any we have". You really think that Bostock, who's valued at peanuts, and has failed to hold down a place at multiple clubs, was at least the equal of every Palace player on the pitch yesterday?

9000+ in attendance. Not bad. We/most clubs would struggle to get that for an F.A. cup fourth round draw, these days.

The organisation was terrible.
They sell some bean thing which looks ok but everything else is really unhealthy.

Holmesdale upper tier was the same. I can understand the club not getting too many burgers in, as they'd go bad if left unsold, but water, soft drinks and snacks?

At least it wasn't a day where a 'kids go free' publicity drive resulted in thousands of little ones sitting in 30 degree heat, their first experience of palace being a long slow, and then finally frustrating and inexplicably pointless queue for much needed cool liquids.

Oh no, hang on.....

Reminded me of Speroni in that respect! Bostock was good for them - did all the simple things well. Benteke had his best game for at least a year. Townsend was excellent. Zaha was very dangerous but if that had been a PL game he'd have been at least booked for that nasty retaliation - really needs to cut that out of his game.

I’m intrigued by the comments on Guaita’s performance. Yes, one of his saves resulted in their goal & another could have but I doubt Hennessey would have made the saves in the first place.

Overall, a decent performance leaving me feeling better about the start of the season than I can ever recall. We just need to be on it from the first whistle & not let teams get a foothold/early goal.

We shouldn’t underestimate how much Toulouse wanted to spoil our party.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

Correct Guaita will obviously be a back up keeper to Hennessey, who finished last season in fine form.
