Now the away fans are next to the family stand where the families get some terrible abuse from certain visitors, scousers I remember being particularly nasty.

It was a stupid decision and remains so

Agree, blocks A and B are loud as people moved there years ago to be next to the away fans.
Although they start most of the songs , 90% of the noise comes from the few thousand behind them

It was made because, with the emergence of the HF, the police considered that the corner between the Holmesdale and the AW constituted a potential flashpoint. The club were given the option of extra policing inside the ground, with the associated costs, or move one of the sets of supporters. Steve Parish decided that the club didn't want a greater police presence (although no doubt that finances also played a part) and moved the away support. It was a pragmatic rather than a "stupid" decision.

How awful.

Selhurst will be a morgue again. I remember what is was like before the HF. Atmosphere was dire. Constant stand up of you love palace in desperation to get get people to stand up and sing.

I'm tough. I'm ambitious. I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, I'm OK with that.

Pragmatically meant the family end became less suitable for families, if your theory is correct, because of the HF who are noisy rather than trouble making from what I have seen.

" Stupid " is subjective

So let me get this right 100 supporters dont like were they sit stand what ever,
asked to be moved to the center so they can be center of attention,
was told sorry no can do because season ticket holders in that section (many long term holders) enjoy watching the game from there,
because FANS are not kissing there arses to move they act like 5 year olds,
so sad they think more about there self's than the team, so maybe time was right to go and support a team that may put there feelings first over thousands of loyal fans,
good luck with that one

Funnily enough it all started with the Holmesdale Hundred back in the mid sixties. 'I Ho, I Ho, its off to war we go!' and all those other, real, songs! What goes around comes around...

You must be mistaken, until the HF came along everyone sat in complete silence

So true, any fan that says any differently obviously never went or is just outright lying. It was dire, 15k fans sat in silence with a chorus of eagles the odd occasion we got a corner. Won't notice as much because we sell out week in week out in the prem but our atmosphere of recent times is all down to the hf regardless if you like them or not.

Still no fan should be asked to move seats just to accommodate them.

It's not a theory, it's the reason given by Steve Parish for the decision so it's him you're calling stupid. He's on Twitter (@ceo4tag) so you can tell him yourself. Good luck!

I think it’s appalling.

The HF (like it or not) are rather iconic for our club and standout as part of ‘our’ image. They are not known for trouble but working class, decent organic and a positive atmosphere.

On balance it is a negative change.

SParish is known for being a man who won’t be bullied or afraid of saying no. However, some decisions can be made to cut a nose off to spite a face...
