Roy is involved with the transfers and he will be on the lookout for what he wants.

How do you know?

From what we saw in the January sales Roy wasn't that involved at all. He made it quite plain that he wanted a keeper but ended up with a Polish central defender that looks poor playing in our under 23 side plus a loan of a midfielder from Benfica that didn't make it onto the pitch for one solitary minute.

There was a big press announcement a week or so ago that Roy had been offered an extension to his contract but absolutely no mention since of him having signed it and it wouldn't surprise me if he is waiting to see whether we get the reinforcements that he thinks we need. As always I hope that I'm wrong

He made it quite plain that Sorloth was his signing, secured via contacts in Norway. So that in its self shows he WAS involved in transfers.

Nonsense to suggest Roy isn't that involved. Utter nonsense. But fits the pant wetting, anti fan kinda support we have round here.

Keep making the nonsense up why not....

Whatever is or isn't happening this summer it's still early days yet.

Surely, it won't be a balls up like last year? ... or even left to the last minute again? ... but you never know with Palace!

By the WC final two thirds of this window will have passed by. It's always later than you think.

It's looking like we'all be leaving most of our transfer business to the last week again, like happens in most transfer windows. I wished we'd get some business done earlier, but SP seems to enjoy his holidays and leaving until the end. It's risky, but that's how it is. I don't expect anyone in until August.

MIght we be waiting for RLC to return to Chelsea ?

I know many have said they’d rather we didn’t wait on him, but he’d be worth it if we could get him right?

Totally agree that I hope other business is being looked at and lined up.

Would say that bar the mega signings most of our business is kept out of the media until the last moment. Just something to remember.

Also I think this window will be a very small net spend. Maybe £20m max.

Dark Glasses v Rose Tinted Glasses. Makes for an interesting debate if nothing else.

I am not particularly bothered either way, I reckon we are two or three signings away from a decent squad. Irons are no doubt in the fire. Plenty of time, although it would be good to see some action.

Loftus-Cheek or Wilshere, Abraham or Lookman, one other decent loan signing and Roy signing an extension. That would do me.

I'm pretty sure there is only 5 weeks to the start of the season, and if I'm not mistaken there is no Jan window, so if we are buying it would want to be soon. I don't think we will be buying though, we have a very strong squad that finished wel. Signed SP

What do you actually base half of the stuff you spout on?

Because he was involved with Sorloth that detracts from the fact that actually his role is less centred around transfers?

I think he made it quite clear in January, in quite a few press conferences, that Parish & Freedman took the lion share of responsibility from a transfers POV.

I think the only conclusion we can really draw almost a year in, is that Freedman is useless at his job & we were wrong to use one window as a Championship side to determine his scouting genius. Here’s to hoping he pulls something special out the bag, but after January I’m not gonna hold my breathe.

I dont think it is pant wetting.
There are less than 5 weeks till the window closes. We have lost 2 first team players and several covers. Mitigating that is the return from injury of several players. There were legitimate concerns over our depth of cover in several positions during both of the last two windows.

Allied to that is the fact that it cannot be optimal to not have the full squad togethet for preseason when moves are worked on.

There is a January 2019 transfer window, that will be open for the whole month:
