But they weren’t direct replacements were they? When we sold wrighty we brought in gabbiadini, nearly went for Alan Shearer but that’s history now Granted we’ve bought some great players over the years but when it came to replacing a star player directly, the only time it worked out not only adequately but vastly improved upon, was when we bought lombardo to replace Hopkins. That’s like selling zaha and buying ronaldo today lol

We’ll never know how good he could have been for us in the prem.

Yeah AJ was class, not sure how much management knew he'd be an improvement on Morrison mind.

£70m, then we can pay for the new stand.
I refuse to believe there are that many people out there that can't spell. Too f**king lazy, that's what I think. |

£70m, then we can pay for the new stand. If we need to sell players to pay for it, then we can't afford it, plus £70m is nowhere near enough to pay for the whole project in any case.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

I’m glad Parish runs things and not anybody willing to sell the player we can’t win a game without to pay for a new stand that’ll make the ground half empty in the championship.

And not just "a" player, but a player with a genuine heart for the club. Priceless indeed and no way I would swap him for a new stand! The thought is quite offensive really. Originally posted by Rudi Hedman

I see in the Guardian Man City are willing to pay up to £75 million for Mahrez. That gives a rough idea of what the market value for Wilf is - I'd say it's about the same, given he is younger, more talented, more potential but not (yet) as good in decision making and all round as Mahrez but getting closer. Even speaking from a purely unsentimental point of view, it doesn't really make sense to sell. Assuming Wilf continues to get better, and he certainly can, we'll get even more for him next season, more than the £120k per week/6.2 million per year he will cost us in wages.. after that though it will probably be quite close to peak market and peak potential so it probably would make sense to sell from a £ point of view - not that I'd want to.
