Didn't watch all of it. As befitting a comedian I suppose. One demo held in Scotland as well but as they only live in caves up there all that was heard emerging from one was an echoey cry of 'Freeedommm'.

Dankula is refusing to pay the fine and is going to set up a crowd funding to appeal it.

I am a first amendment supporter so I think as long as you are not threatening or inciting violence you have the right to offend. In this case it is more complicated because he is being prosecuted under laws that relate to telecommunications. In other words if he did this at Hyde Park corner I would have no problem. However that doesn't mean that the BBC should be forced to show this to satisfy his free speech rights, you wouldn't show hardcore p*** on un-encrypted channels. Its a tricky one but I do think that these so called hate crimes have gone too far.

Its a tricky one but I do think that these so called hate crimes have gone too far. At the time he was reported for this 'crime' he had 7 subscribers on a YouTube channel. No one complained, the Police actually forwarded the video to a Scottish Jewish group to register a complaint.....that's our Police now. No one is required to watch the video and his channel intro makes it pretty plain that he's an edgy comedian. I'd agree that some of his stuff is uncomfortable. Mind you, there's a lot of crap on TV that makes me uncomfortable right now...It's pure drivel...If I want a TV set I'm required to pay for it or undergo the Spanish inquisition from the BBC. Here's an update. I'll post Dankula's own words here: 'On the 23rd of April 2018 I was sentenced to an £800 fine after being found guilty of being "grossly offensive" under section 127 of the Offensive Communications Act 2003. Due to me creating a clearly comedic video where I trained my girlfriends pug to be a Nazi. The only way for the court to secure a conviction was to willingly ignore the clear context of the video, which was explained twice, in the video itself. This conviction will be used as an example to convict other people over the things they say and the jokes they make, it sets a standard where courts will be able to willfully ignore the context and intent of a persons words and actions in order to punish them and brand them as criminals. This is the amount that has been quoted by my lawyer, the reason it has been quoted so high is my lawyer wishes to bring in top legal representatives to ensure that we have the highest chance of reversing the standard that this case sets, I cannot allow the 2 years of litigation I went through and having my life put on hold, to happen to anyone else. I will be 100% transparent with these funds, all bills in regards to the case will be made publicly available.' I've contributed last night and just looked at the total. As I write the appeal's been live for 18 hours and amassed £77, 669. This is despite this case having received minimal publicity from the main media and Dankula having been frequently described as 'far right' or 'alt right' by overly ideological journalists.....both of which is ridiculous. We are into dangerous territory at the moment. That girl who posted 'rap' lyrics had to do community service and pay a 'victim' fine.

Just an update, the appeal fund for Dankula is now at: Nearly double the asked for amount. Raised by 7,644 people in 10 days. People prepared to put money where their mouth is on free speech.
