No they could be good enough, but really how do we know without a genuine policy of bringing young fit players through to challenge.

The big problem with these expensive stars being sidelined for months if not years is that there is nobody pressurising for a start in their place.

And they don't necessarily recover either.

Hodgson and Freedman know far more about players such as Rakip than anyone on these forums.

Great we've got out first new signing in the window and Roy Hodgson should get 100% from real Palace supporters.

I'm pleased the club haven't blown massive amounts of money on some marquee signing.

To be honest I hadn't heard of him until quite recently and have never seen him play.

And we certainly won't be blowing "Massive amounts" on marquee signings. We aren't shopping at Harrods.

If Eagles want to 'blow massive amounts of money on some marquee signing' then I will of course make myself available............

As always, give him a chance and wait and see, but have to say this is a pretty underwhelming deal. Can't get excited about a loan signing who cant speak english (prob the only swede alive), and has zero experience of Premier League or a relegation scrap.

Parish needs to sort out two first team regular perms (Keeper and Striker), this might be a nice bit of cover, tidy bit of business kind of deal, but without the two glaring holes in our First XI sorted, then it'll be a pretty pathetic window.

Our academy hasn't been very competitive for some time so it may be some time before any local lads come through us into this division.

In the meantime we'll be trying to snap up over 16 year olds and into early 20's for prospects.

Obviously being signed as a short term fix for RLC. Not 100% sure whats weird about that?

Making a loan signing to cover another loan signing seems pretty weird to me.

I hate the loan system, but understand as it's there we may as well use it, but if RLC requires surgery then we'd be better packing him off back to Chelsea and using his space for a Premier League experienced player.

Yep. Let's see. January is difficult. August was negligent.

Whether we survive or plummet through the relegation trapdoor will be determined by our signings in the 'Window'.

Too right, after all how many of us had heard of Luka when BS signed him?

And it's not like he's going to cost us much in wages, doesn't take a squad place, we haven't really got much to lose in this deal.

Firstly both have been on loan at lower division clubs and havent exactly excelled .
Secondly roy sees them training most days, or gets reports from U23 manager, and if he felt they were good enough he wouldn't have sold/loaned them out. (Incidentally can't find the amount we sold keshi for, can you enlighten me).
Thirdly we don't have the luxury of playing young players in the hope that after a run in the team they may do OK, if we were mid table might be different.
