Well done Joel especially for that clearance, which was as good as a goal. The clearance happened because he played Vardy onside. He was the one at fault and he made amends. Good game from him but he isn’t good enough for the first 11 and I maintain that.

Agree. he was at fault for playing Vardy onside. Somehow our managers seem to pick him when a lot of us think there would be better options. Originally posted by coulsdoneagle

COYP That young lad due to his attacking instinct wouldn't hae played him onside perhaps. Each have their strengths, right now Wards main strength over AWB is his experience. In fairness when he is on song he's brilliant and it's promising he still has those performances in him while AWB develops.

Was that his last game today? He's been a very good signing for £400k. Definitely replaceable but equally he is a competent squad layer at this level. Suppose it all comes down to wage demands.

Cruciate damage today? That looked very close to one to me the way he jarred his knee.

Gutted for him if it is Cruciate. He deserves the offer of a new contract from us or even a good free transfer away, but wont get any decent offers until they know if and when he is likely to return. Originally posted by Glazier#1

Oh dear, looks like Roy's decision was the right one as neither had any joy against Joel Ward 20/20 hindsight is a wonderful thing, however you missed my point which wasn't a criticism of Ward it was a genuine concern that in Gray and Vardy it was a case of 2 of the quickest players in the prem up against one of our slowest defenders when we had our quickest defender on the bench. As it happened, Ward had a great game as did the whole Palace team so things went our way, but on another day he might have been found out. I am not a Ward hater, in fact he has been a solid performer for many years, its just that his lack of pace is now beginning to show.

Against Leicester last week, Ward was certainly getting back to his old self and justifiably keeping others out the team. He is a good pro, would not cost the earth to keep, him and Palace through and through.
