I knew Winterval would come up on here, a board of such polarised opinions, at this time of year.

I recently heard an interview with someone from the council who explained the name in more detail. Quite simply it was a series of events which ran through the whole of Winter and encompassed other non-Christian festivals.

That said I would bet a considerable sum that someone involved in the voted on religious grounds.

What about England flags though? Even during WC/ Euros. Even that vile Thornberry open expressed her disdain. The only debunking is from the council who explained it away as a health and safety issue to have the plastic ones one cars.
