A 2 game ban feels like little consolation for us now, but I think this is a positive step that will help reduce simulation in the long run.

As others have said it's little consolation... In fact do we want Everton's on form striker to miss bottom of the table clashes against West Ham and Southampton?

Should of been brought in sooner for the likes of Snodgrass last year. Hopefully the bans will increase exponentially should a player keep committing diving over a season. The second ban should be 10 games.

So the ref is, at best, incompetent and at worst, favouring of Everton?

Now take the rest of the match into account.

All this does is once again highlight the absurdity of not having a video ref. It is scandalous that this system is not already in place. We were robbed of 3 points by a cheat and his fine and ban after the event does nothing to alleviate that. Robbed of 2 points, surely?

Now take the rest of the match into account. The whole match WILL be taken into account. There is a robust system for measuring the performance of the referee after each PL game. Each PL game is forensically evaluated where intense scrutinization of every decision is made using the match footage and 'ProZone' to measure the referee's technical performance. There is an assessment of the accuracy and consistency of decision making and his management of the game.

Haven't read the whole thread so sorry if this has been mentioned, but this could turn out even worse for us if he's banned for matches against our relegation rivals.

Those nice old-fashioned computer terminals with Unix text editors used to have a thing called a "kill ring". You could highlight some text and save it to a buffer, and then paste it into a document wherever and whenever you needed it again. Like Cut and Paste in Windows but you could keep lots of text snippets at once and use whichever one was needed on a given occasion, such as "Dear Sir", "Yours Faithfully", "Thank you for your letter of yesterday's date", or even "We regret to inform you that your application has been unsuccessful". Or, if you're Willo, the horses*** he has pasted here for the ten gazillionth time.
