I prefer Speroni to Hennessey, but in fairness I don't think Hennessey has been particularly bad this season. Either way, I'd give Speroni another start against Newcastle, to let Hennessey fully recover and see what the 'Legend' still has to offer.

Don’t change a winning team, speroni stays. It was clearly noticeable the number of times the ball went back to the keeper today. I don’t think the players trust Wayne.
Nothing concrete here, but the defense was a lot less jittery today, and I suspect it's because of the communication coming from the goalie - something that we all know is completely absent from Hennessey's game.
We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football. |

Pretty much, I think sometimes a keeper might get a bit lucky and get to that, but you wouldn't expect them to - Because the defence shouldn't be allowing someone in the centre of the box a free header. At the very least there should have been someone jumping with him (on his flank, facing towards the corner) to try to block it, and put pressure on the opposition player. That's all the back four.

There's no point trying to reason with him. He's got a real desire to down everything that a club legend does. Which in itself is very strange behaviour by a Palace fan. Not to say it all again, but I voted for Speroni every time he got POTY. I just don't think he's good enough any more, and there was nothing on Saturday to change my mind on that. Nothing to do with his legend status - you don't automatically play because of that. He could have done better with their goal - if it had been WH in goal you'd have been saying how sh**e he was as you do every week. He was in the middle of the goal, yet didn't try to dive until after the ball was in the net - too slow. Also a bit of a cheek you commenting on strange behaviour by a Palace fan when you must have posted your hatred of WH at least 200 times in various threads! Edited by cpj (16 Oct 2017 5.15pm)

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Speroni Must Start Every Game' by Penge Eagle i love Speroni but he's biggest flaw is that he doesn't come off his line which invites pressure on the defence. WH get's slaughtered on here and one of the main criticisms is that he doesn't command his area. However JS doesn't get the same comments. Just an observation, don't shoot the messenger

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Speroni Must Start Every Game' by Penge Eagle I disagree - Both are decent shot stoppers however Wayne is better at dealing with high balls.

Speroni had nothing much to do and if the Chelsea shots on goal had been on target they would have beaten him. I really don't know why Hennessey gets so much stick. Our current position is not his fault. Signing a top keeper is not so easy. Fully agree with this... first two efforts he faded went in and hit the bar..
