It's difficult to reconcile that hard-working pre-season (the Austrian boot camp, etc.) with someone who was about to jump ship. Whatever went on, he did what he was employed to do and kept us up, with the added bonus of a mid-table finish, and he should have been paid the bonus for doing so. That rather shabby court case over £3m, when he'd guaranteed us £80m, said as much about the owners of the club as it did about him. Let's face it, historically we're not exactly innocent when it comes to debt dodging are we?

Was it a shabby court case, because Pulis lied or because Parish wanted the terms of the contract adhered to.
What's debts have the current owners dodged?

If Parish wanted the terms of the contract adhered to he wouldn't have accepted Pulis's resignation.

There is no doubt that Pulis lied but there is also no doubt that he made Parish an awful lot of money

He didn't make Parish a lot of money, but CPFC 2010 as they took the court action.

The thing that gets me agreeing with Parish on this one is Pulis resigned just as the season was starting, so he was available for hire (to West Ham probably) without any obstacles, whilst causing a lot of disruption and costs.

We had to pay compensation to Newcastle for Pardew. Done correctly. If Pulis had gone about it correctly we would've been covered. Somebody has to pay that club off if a manager walks out of a contract and into another club. You can't go round thinking you can override law and decency because you're in the premier league fantasy world.

That's just nitpicking but we can all play that game.

Parish was a substantial shareholder in the club and Pulis's actions as our manager increased the value of Parish's shares considerably

How do you make that out? The club received compensation it was contractually due.

It's the truth, there is no evidence that Parishs shares went up in value as a result of the court deciding Pulis actions broke his contract.

I don't know why you keep on trying to make out Parish is the bad guy, he was acting in the best interest of the club. I would think all the money gained has been taken up by transfers and wages.

And big sam do we pay him his bonus even if he goes manages someone else whilst still in the contract period HE signed with us?

Of course not, Parish he however accepted to pay it to him based on him actually retiring. Which sounds the fair thing to do when he's given us plenty of notice. Unlike pulis who lied to have it paid early and then dumped us days before the new seasons.

Anyone who thinks Palace are wrong in how they handled that are absolutely just trying to paint there anti Parish picture.

Crackers to think we should have paid pulis after he made up stories to get the money early knowing he was gonna leave us in the s*** storm.

Best thing about this is it shows clearly those who will say anything to sling mud at Parish....

What absolute rubbish. Sam broke his contract and walked out on us without giving any notice yet he got to keep his bonus

Best thing about this is how some people will twist facts around to suit their agenda

Reverting to the original post Salako is right. 2/3 of the premier league clubs could get relegated. If we aren't one of the unlucky 3 then we have achieved our objective. Stay up and a cup run and it's a good season. Simples. The Charlton example could easily be us next. So we just need to all pull together to make sure it doesn't happen.

There was a break clause in the contract allowing either party to terminate it at that point and making provision for that, wasn't there not?
