These are the free agents available at the moment.

Volkan Sen
Carlos De Pena
Jose Antonio Reyes.

One of those on a 12 month contract I think, could help us for cover.

Won't stop reading it here.

The lack of competition for Benteke is a concern but I'd hope he's professional enough for that not to affect him. After all he's playing every week, which is what he wants. I'm more worried that he'll get injured and all those who repeatedly shout for him to chase the ball down, challenge for unwinnable headers etc will have to be a bit more realistic that we can't have him throwing himself in to challenges. If he gets injured we're in the s***. I just hope this doesn't affect the physical side of his game too much.

The boy from Everton wasn't great and not worth the £8mn I've seen quoted on here, even in today's market. Don't think he's much better than Frazier Campbell who we should have kept. It's a bit like letting Gayle go a couple of seasons ago.

We had the issue with agents fees in the Riedewald deal, and it delayed it by several days. So after waiting until the absolute last minute, like a bunch of idiots, we scupper a deal to sign a striker (making him our second fit premier league level striker) by allowing the agent fee issue to block it (without several days available as per the Riedewald deal). This is just incredibly poor planning and execution of how to run a football club. 3 year olds can usually learn from past experiences. Its schoolboy stuff and can we keep surviving in this league with these kind of schoolboy measures being taken by the leadership. All this game playing and nonsense with the sakho deal, posturing and lies until the absolute last minute, its bizarre the way we approach transfers.

We are not privy to what happened here. The goalposts might well of been changed by his team. If so in the long run he is just going to rot in the reserves until Jan at Everton where they have supposedly even removed his personal locker. Poor guy has to put his shirt on a communal peg, lol.

Still hoping for a free transfer on this.

But the fact remains that a back-up striker should have been one of the easier transfers to pull off - don't have to be too fussy and don't have to pay too much, just get a body in. We could and should have used the foreign loan allowance for this!

According to some newspapers, Only Newcastle United had a worse transfer window than Palace. Not sure what it will take for Parish to learn his lessons over transfer's and appointing Managers, The only reason I want hit to stay is better the devil you know. Parish just has not got what it takes at this level

According to the Times, it was Everton who messed the player around and who would not pay a fee to his representative despite the fact that it was he who had arranged everything.

"Everton had refused to countenance paying his representatives earlier in the day when their good relationship with Palace had resulted in the deal being brokered in the first place.

And it is understood Palace officials became increasingly exasperated during negotiations having submitted a deal sheet before the 11pm deadline to the Premier League which allowed them two additional hours to submit the finished paperwork."

So as frustrating and poor as this window has been, that does not seem to be the club's fault.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

Yes, speaking in general terms, it is often NOT for the want of trying that clubs don't get players "Over the line". Lots of factors enter the equation and the whole process can be protracted and very frustrating.
So one can sympathise with clubs who often work very hard to secure their targets but are thwarted due to a plethora of reasons.

I can speak with a bit of authority on this as I know people who are involved in such matters.

SO we've missed out on a player we wanted, Everton have still got a player that they don't want and this bloke will be playing reserve team football for the next 4 months because his representatives wanted more money. Frustration all round I imagine.

Wouldn't be surprised if he is looking for a new agent after this.

Lots of talk he'll be off to Turkey now as their transfer window is still open.

We have a good squad overall, basically the one Sam worked with to such stunning effect.
The one missing ingredient is the manager and whether Frank the bore is the right man to pull it altogether.
