Loans aren't the answer. I remain acutely interested in who we bring in on permanent. Part of the game plan is PL survival. And if we get two top notch young players who subtsantially contribute to keeping us up, job done. Who knows there might even be loan to buy options!

They may even fancy first team football and a pay deal meriting first XI status at a mid table club, rather than fringe player status and pay at their "parent club" at the end of the loan. Edited by Mr_Gristle (07 Aug 2017 1.20pm) Yeah agreed, it's not w for gone conclusion that United would be able to fit him in their first team plans next year. If he enjoys his football here then there's a chance we'd have him for two seasons. The quality of the loans we've attracted most likely says something about other clubs faith in us bringing on their talent. IMO both could play first team football for their parent clubs. Great signing, well done Frank! I'd say £30-40m worth of players in those two, couldn't afford to buy them and strengthen elsewhere so makes great sense.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Fosu-Mensah Loan Signing' by Guntrisoft Mourinho is notoriously bad at developing young players in his squads.. I think even if Fosu-Mensah performs well this season, he would be willing to let him go. That's assuming Fosu-Mensah would actually want to come back permanently!

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Fosu-Mensah Loan Signing' by Guntrisoft I'm not sure how bringing in an inexperienced defender only to give him back at the end of the season really helps us.

I'm not sure how bringing in an inexperienced defender only to give him back at the end of the season really helps us. Because it means Delaney or Kelly won't get selected! Works for me!

You know you have to pay a loan fee. Not necessarily. In this case I'd imagine United are more than happy to let him come for 100% wages and get decent first team experience. Even if there is a fee, it's going to be like 10% of his transfer value. If that was £20 million (which is far too high) that means 2 mill. Which is relatively nothing. I think this could be leading to a bid for Sakho for 20-25 million and then next season the priority will be right back when Fosu-Mensah returns to United. We also desperately need a striker and maybe the board have said we can only loan one defender if we spend on a striker? Speculation of course.

People moan that we don't have enough strenghen in depth. We can't afford to buy 4 or 5 players that would improve the squad, so loaning 2 very exciting youngsters from top clubs, improves thd squad and frees up money to buy one or two quality players. To say it's only man utd who benefit from this deal is ridiculous.
