Schlupp so far looks a better player than PVA. £12m for a left back looks a steal now, especially when you see walker go for an extortionate amount. Schlupp is only 24, i think he was an excellent signing by Sam. Originally posted by alaneagle1

Sorry to correct you there but he certainly is not! Likes of Virgil van Dijk, Daley Blind, Wesley Hoedt, Stefan de Vrij, Joel Veltman, Bruno Martins Indi, Mathijs de Ligt and even Jeffrey Bruma are all well ahead of him in the pecking order. To be perfectly honest he never held a regular starting place and was no more then a squad player at Ajax. Originally posted by Gribbo
He is a full Dutch International FFS. What makes you think we are spending that sort of money for a fringe player. Sad to say it, but Dann and Tomkins not good enough as we saw last year. Both played OK in patches, and Tomkins looked better alongside Mamadou. Dann's drop in form was catastrophic. If we are going with Dann and Tomkins as a pairing in front of Hennesey, then I tell you now, we will be in exactly the same position as we were last year.

I don't know much about the player or his status at Ajax and I suspect others on HOL are in the "Same boat" - thank you for sharing this with us.

Having signed him to be the manager, we have to trust in his decisions, especially when it comes to players who he has had seen day in, day out in the past.

i reckon i'll trust FDB judgement. considering how bad the Dutch are right now, it doesn't bother me he's not playing for them

Edited by Willo (14 Jul 2017 9.28am) Or perhaps he thinks that the side needs a bit more depth. He might also think that he needs to get some players into the squad who understand his key message and the way that he does things. In fact, perhaps his decision to sign this player has nothing to do with the players that are in the squad and more to do with the players who aren't.

Funes mori injury has put JR move to Palace in doubt. Everton have followed up their enquiry with a bid.

Edited by Willo (14 Jul 2017 9.28am) I am pretty confident that Ajax have a 25 man squad full of players who are a lot better than a number of our current crop. I base this on the fact that they battled in a Europa League Final last season and we battled Hull to stay in the league...

Riedewald may be used as a ultity player in the first to gain experience. Could cover Lcb, lb and Cdm and with no actual cover for Luka could this be where he's deployed this season, if signed of course.
