Wondered if Williams is any closer getting into this 3-4-3, than he did in 4-3-3 that we most thought we'd play. Probably not

I gave up on him years ago when it was obvious that he was an average Championship player, at best, with an horrendous injury record. He should pursue his career at a lower level, for his own sake, as well as ours.

Despite playing well with u23s , I highly doubt he'd figure this season. Unless he's involved against shalke on Saturday.

Williams, has never been given a chance in the prem. the only season he's been fit for the majority was when Pulis was in charge, a manager known for his liking of big/tall players. In the brief stints in the championship he showed promise regardless of scoring goals, anyone who has seen him play should be able to see he's very gd on the ball, better than anyone else in his position. Given a chance in the system FDB will play he may prove to be an influential player most probably from the bench. For me personally he will be much more useful than the likes of chungy who have proven time and again that they are not gd enough for the prem standard, give our youth the chance they've been trained for.

Hardly proven time and time again.

He isn't really good enough. People on these boards only persevere with him because he came through the academy.Just compare the chances people on this board give him compared to the slating newer signings get.

On the other hand, he's still only 23 so could still make it, but really he's running out of time.

Joniesta,Chungy and Mutch already with the U23's, so Frank has already ruled them out of first team duty.

Thought he played well against T&M.

Players careers are often strange, sometimes they get bad luck, and sometimes it takes a while for players to truly rise up.

I'm thinking of Victor Moses last year for Chelsea, or for us someone like AJ who was in the reserves at Birmingham, then went on to become an England international.

Johnny Williams clearly has talent. He was in the Wales team that got to the semis of the Euros, he's decent enough to have got a new contract at the club. Lots of talented players fall by the wayside and never recover but I think it's too soon to write Johnny off just yet, stranger things have happened. Playing under a manager who will want to get the ball on the ground, and has expressed a keenness to play youngsters, Johnny is still probably are most talented 'youth team' talent, even if he is about 24.

If punk ever happened I'd be preaching the law, instead of listenin to Lydon lecture BBC4

And so he should.
If he does not feature against Schalke, which I do not think he will, that will be his lot.
