Hiya. LBC gave her a platform to exercise her freedom of speech. If she uses that freedom of speech to say things that people find offensive then LBC also have the freedom to fire her. Sorry but that's a pure disingenuous summary of what has happened. It leads me to think that perhaps you don't care about the freedom of speech of those you don't agree with. This is that section of the left using activism to close down those they hate. There is a section of the right that look to do this as well. Frankly I loathe them much more than I dislike any political view I disagree with. They go against the very essence of what I believe a free society needs to operate.

Meanwhile, on Radio 5 yesterday, some fascist Islamic terrorism apologist was allowed to rant away about how it the fault of our foreign policy, muslims will 'defend'themselves, someone had (shock horror) sprayed some graffiti on his local mosque, his 'community' is under attack. You know the usual There are little bounds to the hypocrisy of the 'progressive' left.

National Socialism, not Fascism. And yes you would, because you're not dumb. Of course you would have noticed, in that context, exactly what she was referring to. No. Dumbness is not a factor. It's a state of mind. It's state of mind that allows people to froth at the mouth about a highly selective and arguably minor set of things which fit with their narrow view while happily apologising or tolerating other things that many would consider far more concerning.

Everyone has attached a particular meaning to it thanks to the Nazis. I don't know if you've seen the Manchester thread, but there is plenty of outrage there. This is about Hopkins.

Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (26 May 2017 5.04pm) They're capable of both. I don't think its a case that people who are upset at Hopkins aren't in anyway incapable of feeling issues regarding Manchester. You can do both. Difference is, whatever people say about Islamist extremists isn't going to make a difference. Where as Hopkins has had to quit LBC.

That's not fair, maybe, just maybe, what Katie Hopkins was implying was that 'The only way we can come together is over the Pere Ubu single 'Final Solution' but was limited by 140 character constraints. Or maybe she was reading 'Jack the Ripper: the final solution' and was saying, what we need to understand is that there is a futility in blaming anyone except the guilty part, for atrocity. No, she meant to imply that the mass extermination of human beings would solve the problem.

This is about Hopkins. I can't argue with such rigidity. You have spoken about the dangers of absolute truths in the past and assuming a direct reference to the holocaust can be no more than subjection unless you can read minds.

Sympathisers? Most would happily exterminate them. Wouldn't you?

You want someone sacked because of your interpretation of some ambiguous phrase, while at the same time being precious about the 'rights' of fascist terrorist suspects.

Might LBC have simply decided to sack her because she's a egotistical loudmouth who needs to engage brain before speaking/ writing and that there are reportedly a huge list of personalities who refused to be interviewed until she was fired. The fact that LBC backroom staff cheered her sacking today should also mean something.
