Crap. It just happens to be Islam. The problem with a live and let live mantra is how far you take it. You can't just make a blanket policy because something is religious in origin. The law has to work to uphold a moral standpoint. We the people have to decide where to draw a line. How does someone wearing a Burka (of their own free will), impact you or anyone else 'morally'. Do enlighten me/us? BTW, a Burka ban in places such as courts (where identity verification is key), is of course only sensible. Other that those places, whilst I find them disquieting and unpleasant, I cant see what the fck it has to do with me or anyone else TBH. I also find middle aged men wearing polo shirts with the collars up offensive, but the same WTF does it have to do with applies.

If you want to reduce the argument to such a daft level then discussion is pointless.

Personally I am hoping a burka ban is just a stepping stone to a polo shirt ban. Also crocs, turned up skinny jeans, suit jackets with jeans and harem pants.

As someone who spends most of their time campaigning and spinning for Labour, you know that every party has an agenda to appeal to it's target voters. UKIP is no different.

Crap. It just happens to be Islam. Every time someone needs some political capital The problem with a live and let live mantra is how far you take it. You can't just make a blanket policy because something is religious in origin. The law has to work to uphold a moral standpoint. We the people have to decide where to draw a line. EFA Satanists, not illegal and recognised by the UK and US military for military services. The Church of Satan and Lucifarianism are genuine accepted religions. Paedophiles - Consensus is that they damage and exploit children, sexually, and in a manner that is harmful. Whilst there is debate to be had on the age of consent maybe, and how its established. Cannibals - Almost unheard of and typically identified as a fetish in serial killers. Tolerance should be up to the point at which people are being harmed, killed or otherwise abused in the name of religion. Rather than focus on the innocent muslims, maybe we should do something about the countries that we support that fund Sunni sulfist Jyhadists? Muslim women are definitely victims of extreme forms of Islam, but do you think their lives will improve if you ban the burka, or do you think they'll just end up spending more time indoors.

Someone wearing a Burka i find it uncomfortable and muslim women should put a stop to it how about that.

Would banning the Burka improve the lives of women in the UK who ascribe to such extreme versions of Islam? I don't see how that would achieve anything other than isolating those women further, by restricting them from free association. What we should be doing is maybe supporting Muslim and Islamic Feminist movements. Otherwise its just another case of men telling women what its their choice to wear. This kind of 'social change' has to come from within the Muslim world, and from Muslim women.

I wonder if you can wear a burka to get into the women's changing room in the gym? No one is going to say anything for fear of not being politically correct. The beauty of it is, they go down to the floor so they can't see what you're doing with your hands or your sausage either.

You know when friends shave off their hair for their cancer chum to show solidarity we could do the same for repressed Muslim women. Burka Day in Hyde Park with booze, music, dancing. Thousands of us. They could then join in without fear. Ok, the annoyed elders might drag off the wrong burka and some of us might end up living with a fundamentalist family in Southall for a few years but think of the revolution, man. Just lie on your tummy lest you be caught. Edited by Kermit8 (24 Apr 2017 3.25pm)
