Bournemouth are welcome to him, and will suffer as a consequence. I have no doubt that Josh King will leave Bournemouth this summer, 15+ strikers are in high demand. With lure of high wages etc he will go. Bournemouth are possibly looking at Defoe as a replacement, bad move. When Bournemouth were dropping like a stone, it was Josh King who stepped up and scored goals to stablise their league position. Where was Defoe when Sunderland needed him most, nowhere. He struggled to score any goals towards the end of season. I hope this rumour isn't true.

I was positive towards this move now I'm not so sure after seeing figures being banded about. 3-6 million signing on fee plus 115000 a week.....That seems like an awful lot of cash for Defoe

Let's wait and see but to have 2 x 15 goals a season strikers seems quite a good idea to me.

One or two going rumours going round i've seen that Defoe to Palace is a done deal.

If we really are willing to pay him a 6-figure weekly salary - in line with our biggest earners - that suggests Sam sees Defoe as a potentially key first team player rather than an alternative to Benteke. I'd think the plan would therefore be to play 2 up front next season rather than invest in an attacking midfielder and continue our present system.

What a strike force palace would have with Defoe and trekkers up front would love Defoe at palace as people have said his still got a couple of years left in him and his a goalscorer of the highest pedigree all we would need now is sakho and glichy plus another defender we will be done

As i've said before Defoe is still one of the best finishers in and around the penalty box. Would have him at Palace in a heartbeat.

He is on a free, absolute no brainer. He will know he is here as a second choice behind Benteke and as another option for a different style of play and that will be reflected in his wages. I highly doubt he will get anywhere near our top top earners but will be on around 80k with add ons tied to appearances and goals/assists etc to take it up to the top potentially. Figures may not be accurate of course but it will still cost a lot to bring him here.

Edited by coulsdoneagle (19 May 2017 8.30pm) There isn't something as a free transfer in football. JD would demand a signing on fee and big wages. I rather we looked abroad to find a cheaper alternative especially as we have wickham and Benteke now.
