McArthur could take a couple of games to get up to speed, Flamini is a shadow of the player he was and Kelly hasn't become an effective PL player overnight. I'm afraid the injuries are going to be our downfall and I am deeply saddened by it all.

Yeah and a few of them could be back after Arsenal so you could either pull yourself together or go and sit in your darkened room for 9 days.

And we could lose more after Arsenal. Fact is we are losing key players at a crucial time. I am really distressed by our current plight with Brighton going the other way.

What I saw 2nd half only was really poor and its no wonder we lost.

Our lack of strength in depth will unfortunately be our downfall. With our injury woes I cannot see us surviving. We have had our good run but alas that is now over and I cannot see how we can avoid the drop.

I don't agree that we're nailed on certainties for relegation, and whilst the mathematics favour otherwise there's hope, but I do agree that, post Southampton, the injuries to key players have moved us closer to the tipping point (that cobbled together team in the second half on Wednesday was woeful).

Coupled with our 12 points on the spin failing to spring us away from the danger zone, there is every reason to now be concerned. Let's see how we play on Monday; if we get a tonking from Arsenal then things will start to look very bleak indeed. On the plus side, Hull have a difficult away game this weekend and, on balance, we need Swansea to either draw or lose (even if a loss means W Ham moving closer to safety).

Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing!

Great post bexleydave. Jesus! we have lost one game the other night and overall in the last 8 games we have won 5 times!! including 4 in a row before we lost to the Saints. I know i would rather be in our position than Swansea. They have played a game less and our goal difference is worth a point. Also they will be shattered from losing to Spurs after being 1-0 up after 88 minutes
