The gentleman had first hand experience of that hotel and explained why he thought they were scum.... you made the leap to branding all of them as scum. People like you are the ones that continually try to shut down debate by shouting "RACIST", or some other equally stupid accusatory word like Misogynist or homophobe when confronted with the truth. The Moderators are appointed to police the site, and they do a very good job, so no need for your nannying interference. Quite frankly I have been loathe to post on here of late as the site has recently become infested with pompous oafs. But Cucking is part of the furniture and we love him all same.

Sorry if you disagree with me...I think it's massively not okay to use the throwaway line 'asylum scum' you think it's all good. Let's move on. I'll STFU now.

Just check out Jamie's two posts on the subject on this thread - double standards or what? (even if he was trying to be humorous)........ If some posters are permitted to regard (and say on these boards) that all Millwall supports are scum, then why should not another poster be allowed to express his opinion that asylum seekers are too (if that is how he or she feels)? Either both have the same entitlement to express how they feel or none do.

I read Jamie's posts as trying to diffuse the situation with humour rather than dishing out cards. Your last sentence is of course the correct and most sensible answer. However, whilst we have the over sensitive PC Brigade trying to stifle colourful language then this kind of situation will occur.

With Millwall fans we know some are pure scum by their seen by us behaviour over the years. Painter said he had to 'step over' some people who were 'asylum scum'. Now, i'm not quite sure if sitting on a carpet put's a person in the same bracket as some Lion supporting 35 year old 15st boozed-up thug attacking horses, policemen and scarfers who happen to be in his way with bricks and bottles but, obviously, for some of you it does.

I see, we can be derogatory as long as the targets are deemed justifiable. Perhaps you can supply us with a list so that we can avoid censure. Millwall fans 'Millwall Scum' or 'the accused'. Brighton fans 'Brighton Scum' or 'The pirates of Menspants'. Charlton fans 'Charlscum' or 'The disappearing scum'. See, its a football site, so a certain amount of expected rivalry and opposition to rival teams is expected and acceptable - because the association is directly to their association with a rival club. Where as Asylum Scum, potentially affects a hate tag directly associated to a political agenda, that promotes prejudice against a group of people who's only association is that they in the process of, or have recently been granted political asylum.

How does your response above equate with your earlier response in the thread Kermy.... you clearly don't know every Millwall Fan do you?
Agreed - the fella who said "asylum seeker scum" obviously knows every single one of them and has ascertained that they are without good character. The boys, the men, the women and the children. He was not being prejudiced but was merely opening our eyes to what seems to be his truth. I am impressed with his in-depth investigation and the clarity of his research and the results as, of course, are you. CardiffEagle response.... He said "asylum seeker scum" about the asylum seekers he encountered in the hotel in question. Prejudice is defined (as googled) as "preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience". He hasn't said that he had any preconceived opinions and his opinions are based on his actual experience. Therefore is not prejudice.

If you don't understand the difference between Palace fans referring to the Millwall scum, and Palace fans potentially referring to Asylum Scum. But then if you think Millwall are actually scum, then yes, its unacceptable. You're in danger of taking football far to seriously.

define membership of this said group "millwall scum" The fans of a rival football team, as well you know, as in the song 'Bring on the Brighton, Millwall Scum, we are South London's number one'. See one of the aspects of football, and this is a football fan site, is the rivalry and animosity between groups of fans. I'm not sure if you realise this, but its banter. They're the scum, we're Nigels etc. Its hard to see a phrase such as asylum scum as banter between rivals. I'm sure you understand that there is sub-textual meaning to language, and that context gives meaning as well as just the arrangement of letters.
