When is he though? Doesn't make any more mistakes than most other keepers. I would say WH,s problem has been a jittery defense in front of a goalie who has to guess what the hell his defenders are going to do next,He will settle down know we have a little class in the back line, after all he was pretty solid for Wales, behind a defense that new what it was doing!!

However, that was one special free-kick that dipped in at the very last minute. Was it you who was saying he should have stopped Carroll's scissor-kick? Yes I am keeping up with what is going on and I always have a laugh when you are always sticking up for flapper Hennessy He is not only cr@p at free kicks he is a cr@p goalkeeper in my opinion and of many others so let it lie you stick to your opinion and we will stick with ours...Fair enough?
Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky. |

Of course Hennessey has many detractors on here. I don't view the message boards of other clubs but I can only imagine what Liverpool and Man C supporters posted about their new keepers Karius and Bravo.Boruc at Bournemouth mixes the eccentric with the sublime and drops clangers. In terms of Man C, they ditched Bravo for Caballero who isn't that good with his feet, a quality Guardiola demands hence his treatment of Hart who is a better keeper than the pair of them. Imagine the furore on here if Pardew had acted in similar circumstances ? Edited by Willo (01 Mar 2017 8.56am)

I agree a keeper needs to command his area, but I don't know where you get this idea that Speroni did. He was a great shot stopper, but found wanting under crosses in his prime, I doubt he has improved with age. Mandanda didn't show a commanding presence in his area.

Disagree with both of those. Think Boruc and Karius are better than WH Karius didn't look impressive at all overall and what was striking was how uncomfortable he looked at back passes.Jamie Carragher certainly wasn't impressed with him at all and I see he has been replaced by Mignolet.Maybe a question of nerves and/or settling into the PL. Regards Boruc he is very good on one-on-ones but as I mentioned before he mixes the eccentric with the excellent - can drop real clangers but make some good saves. He does have a habit of saving penalties. There was mention of Bournemouth interested in Begovic but nothing came to fruition.

In my office there is a bin dipper fan who goes into meltdown at the mere mention of Karius. Can't get over how utterly toilet he is, a total liability and an utter clown. When they put Mignolet back he was sane again.

He is still only a 'Baby' at 23 and coming to a top-level club and being new to the PL must be daunting.

I don't understand how fans can defend Hennessey. At so effing what if he's homesick, what he is 4 years old and missing mummy and daddy? He's a pro footballer earning millions living in a town that is 3.5 hours from Wales. Jesus Christ give me strength... On his ability, Hennessey is what I call a 'Hollywood' goalkeeper. Looks the part, but in essence is crap. He can pull off impressive saves, kicking is good, he has the height and physical build, however his decision making is poor, lacks bravery, doesn't command his box, doesn't communicate with his back 4 and generally lacks confidence and is prone to unforced errors. He's been poor for the best part of 2 years. The whole team knows and when Wayne makes an unforced error to go 1-0 down, the outfield players lose heart and belief (i.e. Sunderland 4-0). The mistake at Villa last season was the catalyst for a terrible run. We all know that at any level of football, if you keeper is s***, you are screwed. My view is that if Speroni isn't good enough to replace easily the worst keeper in the league, then he's not good enough to make the bench and AP and SA should have stuck a kid on the bench instead.
