Stuart Attwell was demoted so it goes to show that action is taken against referees who consistently don't perform to the standards expected of them at PL level. It took Attwell four years of being consistently s***e before this happened. Mike Dean of course was demoted in a blaze of publicity, took a Championship match the following week which he f***ed up with another bollocks decision, and was then quietly put back in the Premiership. Can't find a ny other examples at all. And Clattenburg, notoriously dreadful, gets away with all sorts. So do most of the others. If youbseriously think that this system is maintaining the standards of officials then you are delusional.

The referee from his angle saw it differently.Split-second decision in a fast moving scenario.I haven't seen it on 'Slow-Mo' from a number of different angles so I cannot pass comment on the specifics of the incident. Edited by Willo (26 Feb 2017 3.05pm) You cant say what the ref did see or didnt see. If you havent seen the slow - mos then you shouldnt be making a comment about the situation.

As for my "Defending", I am NOT a 'defence lawyer' for Madley or any other referee and try to see decisions from the perspective of the man in the middle. At least I accept that referees make mistakes - seemingly to the majority on here they are expected to be right 100% of the time. Of course I have witnessed many 'Faux Pas' over the years but can understand why mistakes were made.

The referee obviously saw something hence the 'Yellow' card.He didn't have the benefit of 'Slow-Mo' of course and as I haven't availed of this I cannot comment about the specifics of the incident. I look at the 'Bigger picture' and I can only re-iterate that a referee can only give what he sees from his angle or vantage point or what he is informed by his assistants. And yes there will be variances with what he/assistant sees and what others see, including the pundits.
