We need match winners/savers. Jules consistently had one in him per game, whilst Hennessy has managed only a handful in his entire tenure between the sticks for us. I saw a comment about Pardew being a naive WH lover, well, I'm pretty sure he signed Steeeeeeeeve because he was in fact quite the opposite. Anyway, if its between WH and Jules, Jules has to be given a go now. I actually think this cup replay may help us, gives Sam a 'free' game to try whatever. I agree Jules should start but he is almost in a no win situation, does ok keeps a clean sheet - well it's 1st Div opposition. Concedes a softish one and then others will say told you so

Sorry, but the JS camp keep coming up with this claim - on what basis do you make it? There's no evidence to back it up - in fact in Speroni's last 2 League games we conceded 6 goals. If you like Speroni more than Hennessey then that's fine, but don't try and justify it with erroneous claims (unless you've interviewed the defence and they've told you this!). Those 2 games were in severely changed squads just before the cup semi and final, not fair games to huge him on. In the Manchester United game he did well if my memory serves me right. I think Hennessey has his qualities but not enough for Speroni to never be given a chance. I think if he plays well vs Bolton, then Speroni should be in goal for the Everton match.

I'm pretty sure Speroni was our man of the match against united, score would have been in double figures!

People confuse wanting Speroni in goal with nostalgia. The only nostalgia there is relates to wanting a competent goalie between the sticks. Hennesey has had plenty of games to prove his worth.

Rather a stupid statement willo as goalkeepers can go on to 40 years old and Jules STILL has the ability to be between the sticks and prove you totally wrong. You stick to the ref threads!!
Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky. |

In those 2 he played he had Souare at left-back and Delaney at centre-half for both (alongside Mariappa) with Ward at RB for 1 and Kelly for the other. Supposedly JS did OK at Bolton in the first match yet Allardyce obviously didn't think enough of him to bring him in ahead of WH for Saturday.

Arrrrrrrrrgh! I can't believe we're here all over again!? Pages and pages of the same arguments and nothing has changed. So f***ing frustrating because the club has obviously spotted that a change needed to be made by signing Mandanda. He goes and gets injured and we're back to square one, arguing about the same thing as last season.

Whilst not solely responsible Hennessey has been a significant factor in the slump in form over the last year. He has zero credit in the bank in terms big saves or matchwinning contribution but you are continually left feeling he should have done better and lacks bottle. Pardew elected to make Speroni, not second, but THIRD choice presumably resenting his status. It's difficult to say with any degree of certainty whether a thirty seven year old who's played so little first team football can simply step in and continue near his previous level but it's reached the stage where there appears little to lose as Hennessey doesn't look like he's got the ability or fortitude for a relegation fight.

My opinion was that SM was another Parish marquee signing.

Let me start off by saying I like speroni. However there's clearly a reason why pardew stopped using him and then went out and brought another keeper while he was sat warming the bench and now bfs isn't putting him to use in the league. Secondly the way things are at the moment people want him in goal because he offers a bit of hope, a change the the same old same old from Hennessey. However we all know it wouldn't be long before threads were started on here and everyone was back arguing the toss and slating the man if he started missing saves and letting goals in. At the moment it's open season in the blame game Edited by Michaelawt85 (17 Jan 2017 12.24am)

Jules has been there for relegation in the past with us and the rollercoaster of promotion . He probably has the stomach for the fight more than Hennessey. Only saving grace is some of them might start thinking.of themselves and putting a shift in.If there's the merest hint of us slipping into relegation and going down..they will want out in the summer a lot of them and want to put themselves in the shop window so to speak
