Absolutely - remember how bad we were under Doog b4 Damo and Bolasie (and Moritz for a short time) came in - relegation fodder to top of the league in two months - we've hit our lowest point so far - it's a question of how we react, and that's anyone's guess - even with our injury list and shallow, unbalanced squad it's far too early to give up.

Fair play to the manager to say that he set up the team wrongly at the start. Like to see both Townsend and Wilf get to the by line more and fling some crosses in for Benteke. Get both them and him working. Punch needs to be dropped, nice turns around the ball but no forward movement nor goalscoring ability, 48 PL games 2 goals speaks for itself, 17 this season 0 goals. Defence needs at least 2 new players, CB and LB.

We will not benefit from relegation and we are nowhere near down yet. We are not even in the bottom three yet.

We do need to sign some fresh blood and stop feeling sorry for ourselves.

Best post on this thread.

Don't hold your breath. Allardyce was a huge mistake and SP will reap what he sowed. None of the other teams in trouble were interested in Allardyce and rightly so. In 3 games he has lost the team and the crowd - he can crawl back under his rock, but unfortunately won't. We are buggered.
We are the idiots who gave him his chance to get back into football. Let's hope he pays us back. Not to confident after last night's showing.
But all the pundits say he will keep us up, alas these are the same pundits who have been saying we are to good to go down. We must believe these so called experts.

I kinda feel the same way but refrained from saying so out of respect for the OP who's not normally the kind of chap to post crap.

I have no doubt that we will stay up, because there will be 3 teams worse than us, just about.
Last night was the lowest point of the last few years, with the general performance, attitude etc, but I think it will improve.
Apart from Benteke, who is going down in my estimation game by game, I was most disappointed by Tomkins. He did nothing creative at all and lost it at the end, although he wasn't the only one to do that.
I hear what people say about Cabaye, but after Wilf I though he was our best player.

Benteke-poorly used.

Tomkins-walking wounded. Wasn't scheduled to return till 14 jan but was hauled from the treatment table through desparation.

Both worthy of criticism but strong extenuating circumstances.

Jesus what a negative, dramatic and largely idiotic post.

Allardyce was a mistake was he? Who else would you have wanted, let me guess, Pardew? We were going one way with him, back to the champoinship.

How do you know none of the other teams wanted him? DO you have any proof? We just blinked first and went out and got him. I'm willing to bet any of the other teams looking for a manager would jump at the chance of having SA.

Lost the team and fans? This is one of the most retarded things I've seen on here in a long time, get a grip. The fans are angry and frustrated at the situation we find ourselves in and how we've got to this stage. That isn't SA fault, he's been here a coupe of weeks, what do you expect him to do?

Liven yourself up

There are two managers in English football who have a track record of avoiding relegation with limited resources. They are Sam Allardyce and Tony Pulis. Since the latter was obviously not an option I don't see what we could have done differently. Only issue is that we should have done it sooner.

Absolute dross. Pardew has created an absolute mess and shambles here. Sam has had three games in 10 days for the love of God! If anyone can turn it round it'll be him. How on earth do you come to the conclusion he's lost the team and the fans?? Absolute b0ll0x!

We are NOT down as there is half a season to go and the January transfer window not forgetting a very experienced manager at the helm.

Allardyce knows what it takes for teams to stay up and i for one think we will turn the corner and stay up.

He will change the team no doubt. After the Swansea game he said he had to run the rule over our players and that he was learning things about them very quickly
