If any other player on any other part of the pitch had hacked at someone like Gomez did they would have been booked, the fact that he wasn't defies all credibility on the referee's part.

I would say "hacked at " is the perfect description, fortunately Benteke didn't sustain any serious damage.

Apart from the last tongue in cheek part, why will you not answer the question....What will happen to mark if it is decided that he should have carded Gomez, and uneccessarily booked Zaha??? That's all I want to know!

That's all I want to know! I'm not going to speculate into the minutiae of the 'Forensic' analysis. All I will assert is that the referee's explanation will be taken into consideration as will his view from his angle. At the end of the day the referee doesn't see incidents that we see on TV from umpteen angles.

How can anyone say the Gomes challenge was not a "hack"? Violent deliberate foul play that could have caused a serious injury. Should have been a red card let alone a yellow. I've also got an issue with the "pulling and tugging" at corners. Who's initiating it?? It's never clear, same as for the penalty Derby got yesterday. And the exaggerated dive from the Watford player. Did Delaney cause that or did the Watford player fling himself to the floor? Can't be certain therefore no penalty. Certainly Zaha's "dive" in the box was no more exaggerated. Personally I think Zaha was clipped. Irrelevant whether he was looking for it. I agree with Big Sam. Should have been a penalty. Clattenburg is a best incompetent. And considering the number of dubious decisions against us he should be suspended (on no pay) and investigated. Best referee in the world? What a joke!!
