I don't think AP was squeaky clean from what I have been reading in the press recently posted on this site. In any event Sam was entrapped by a slime ball press reporter and has paid his price for his stupidity, lets move on as he is NOW our manager and he and the team need us AND ALL OF US to support them we must stop all these negative comments and move on to debate what he is likely to do in the transfer window and who may or may not be coming in and who if any will be going out! happy Christmas all!

Facts are the form over 9 months, yes 9 bleeding months of repeating mistakes, arrogance, f*** ups, players taking training and Parish taking action with Brighty in his ear suggest otherwise.

Your would've should be might've and I'd rather have highly likely to than might've.

Alan Pardew f***ed this up time and time again. Nobody else's fault. If he had s*** up shop when ahead v Swansea and Hull and protected the point v Man U he'd still be in the job but he shows his arrogance and lack of respect for the position, club and league and had to go. He is a risky person to have around and can now meet up with his mate Mime Ashley in the casino, which is supposedly how they knew each other in the 1st place.

No he is not. Plenty thought we were gonna stay up with Pardew - myself included. Thing is it would probably have been too close for comfort. Especially if you're paying the bills. So Parish sacked him. And yes much of your analysis of his failings is correct but there are plenty who disparage BFS, and others...

this is quite a good read that echoes many peoples feelings.

Many, but not the majority.

Incidentally he says Pardew had to go because of half a dozen reasons at least.

I get what he's saying but I see this view on things coming from the maturer in age palace fan. Problem is the game has become more win at all costs (diving, cheating, spending over FFP etc etc) than ever before, and I am p1ssed off losing and being relegated. Jordan's moral high ground got us nowhere did it?

The other manager options are an interesting subject but I'd have Allardyce over Hodgson myself. Earbud ton I'm not sure would leave Rangers and has no Prem experience whereas Allardyce has bundles. Gary Monknis a really good shout and I think if we weren't looking at millions in the bank ring fenced for redevelopments to build a ground for the top league whilst looking at a 92 year old male n stand we'd probably go for Monk. But we are in a scrap now because we didn't fire Pardew when we could've experimented a little, in the summer.

Be all and end all is Sam is/was the best option for probably 6 and possibly another 12 months. A detailed plan with attention to detail that's obviously been lacking. Well done to Steve Parish. At the end of the season and beyond, nobody will care whether we're relegated after appointing a stand up guy will they? We will care we're in the prem.

Any objectors will have to get used to questions on morality at dinner parties and the office walkways. Get in Steve Parish.

This is a fantastic appointment for us.

As soon as I heard that AP had gone I cashed in my relegation type bets and then when Sam looked a cert I backed us to climb the table.

Forget about this talk of Sam's dodgy deals because we've had loads of those in the past including AP - it doesn't affect the football. Forget this talk about his tactics being boring - that just comes mainly from the stupid Wet Spam mistaken belief in their so called acadamy football. Just look at his record and it ticks all the boxes. He looks a perfect fit for us. Unlike 3 of our recent managers he does not walk out on the job so we can look forward to a period of stability and continued growth. He will have already told SP of his targets in the January window and hopefully there will be someone to properly fill the hole left by Pardews stupid sale of Jedinak. A left back is a must and another striker. Hopefully Wilf is going nowhere unless it's mega mega money.
Parish has never let us down and I back him totally on this appointment so people should get off their high horses and give Big Sam and the team their full support.

The facts are there for all to see SP could not stick any longer with AP as the stats were clear, if he stayed in the job we would have almost certainly been relegated as he could not defend and stop teams from scoring and we still need to average something over 1.33 points per game for the rest of the season to land on 43 points which is the total that we will need to be sure of being safe (42 has resulted in relegation before in 2003). put in simple terms the team has to win 9 of the next 21 games and draw one. I'm sorry but AP could not deliver, over the last 12 months @ 0.74 points per PL game it was too much of a risk!

I liked AP but he had to go. How could anyone justify his performance or that of the rest of the coaching team in 2016 to investors and say it will come right.
The timing was right, you wouldn't want to throw a new guy in with games against Man U and Chelsea. You wouldn't want to give AP the January cheque book.
But I thought Allardyce was a great centre half for Bolton and a decent manager but saw the documentary in the early 2000's about corruption in football where he starred and was later stunned when he was appointed England Manager.
I am sure he will get us out of trouble given a fitter squad and one or two key purchases but I can't believe there was nobody else who could do this.
I am really disappointed that SP has stooped so low but will support the boys to the hilt although I won't be singing BFS's red and blue army.

..we hate the anticipation of hate we may feel towards him due to all the previous hate having been aimed at him from all the other fans of all the other clubs he has been in charge of, it is quite a worrying dilemma he holds in his suitcase and everybody hates dilemmas.

Palace do 'siege mentality' quite well. Us against the world, backs to the wall, do or die situations. SA being disliked may very well work to the clubs advantage on the outside if our fans get behind him.
