An excellent article that sums up exactly Pardew's approach to apportioning blame and probably explains why he has these nosedives in form; he can never admit, probably even to himself, that he's got it wrong and make the necessary changes.

To be fair, he is no different from other managers. How many times have Ferguson and Wenger blantantly denied they saw some misdemeanour by one of their players, only admitting they saw anything if its right in front of them.
It's what managers do, you don't really expect them to tell the truth.

This has nothing whatsoever to do with the points made in the article, which I can only conclude you haven't read. There's a huge difference between turning a blind-eye to a misdemeanour and being in total denial of the problems that are staring you in the face, and blaming everyone and everything, other than yourself, for those failures to the extent that you actually appear to believe your own BS and, as a consequence, do nothing to put things right, because none of it's your fault and everything that happens is always beyond your control.

All the criticism shoved in Pardew's direction would make sense if we had been playing badly or the spirit of the team was wanting or he had lost the dressing room.

As it stands none of the above is happening so a lot of the critical crap is just hissy fit bollocks to suit people's agenda in wanting him to go.

The team makes mistakes because...wait for it...some of the players aren't great and we are a lower half Prem team.

A new manager is not going to be able to change that.

I disagree - Pulis changed a bunch of Championship players who on paper were not up to this lots standard and kept us up - easily!
All we need is a game plan and when you are losing that starts at the back in the defence and then someone sitting in front of them to cover them and then a leader on the field - it appears though that we do not have any of that at present.
I don't care who sorts it out - I would prefer it was AP without a doubt but so far and for the last 10 months that is not happening.
It has been said time and time again - we are not presuming that we should be right up there but it cannot be denied that we are (statistically ) worse now than we were a year ago - even 18 months ago - and that cannot be right.
We should be holding our own with a slight improvement here and there - not a lot to wish for is it?
I see one Team worse than us right now and that is Hull - other than them we are deep in it with a few others.

One swallow does not make a summer. Dowie took us from the bottom of The Champ to promotion in 6 months too.

If Pulis were here now I don't think we would be much higher. A few more points but nothing startling.

Seven points before the end of the year, should be fine. Problem Pards has is that we also have Man Utd, Chelsea and the Arse in that period.

I agree with Dolphin. We aren't looking to pull up trees but we should be capable of competing with everyone in the Prem.

On Saturday we almost got to half time having given City plenty to think about. Then it's time to tweak your plans a bit and give them another 45 mins of something slightly different to worry about.

We need a proper game plan, including who bloody marks which opposition player when our players are subbed!

also a leader who is prepared to organise, shout, lead and dictate to others on the field for the whole match.

surely that doesn't come via whispers from the dugout!

If what Pardew said was true and 'the dressing room is angry' well we will see it at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon won't we Look out Swansea!

One swallow certainly does not - my post was really that in reply to the guy who said a new Manager wouldn't be able to change anything whereas I think it is possible that they could.
I would prefer AP stayed and got it right but deep down there is something wrong - no team loses this many games over such a long period if everything in the garden is rosy?
Sunderland declined in the send half of a season (quite a few years back)and continued that form into the new season and went down with very few points.
I still believe we can do okay but something drastic needs to happen to halt this slump.
A few points initially would help but I feel sure it runs deeper than that.
The whole way we work needs to alter otherwise I see long term problems.
