Sorry to be a pedantic prick

Sorry to say I agree with you. Dwight's a talent. On his day he can be such a killer. But on other days he misfires. At least that's how it's been with us.

At Premiership level, more is required of a striker than to simply put the ball away. A degree of being able to keep the ball and run with it is equally important. In the first requirement, he was/is superb. In the second, he just didn't have it. Perhaps playing off a strike partner would have covered up that deficiency but it wasn't the system we played, rightly or wrongly.

It's a shame we couldn't use him and get the best out of him.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

The toon are playing to Gayle's strengths so he will score goals - its as simple as that for me.
but selling him was a good decision as we were never going to change our formation to accommodate him. A string of managers recognised he was the best "finisher" @ the club yet never really gave him a run. So maybe the effort wasnt clear to see in training.
£10 mil is decent. Ironically now he's gone it looks like 442 might be on its way this season if AP's post Spuds comments are anything to go by.

Many Forest fans are wanting between £15-20mil PLUS add-ons for Burke.
I can't blame them tbh but would he really cost that much, even in 'this' market?

and in this market and as a team well known for needing a talented player, that's what we'll be held to ransom for too

Clinton is Clinton. I have known him for a long time, I know his mother... Simon Jordan

It doesn't really matter what the Forest fans want as it's the chairman and manager who will decide the price

He does look a very good player but is currently along way from that value. Including add-ons he is less than £10 million with 50% of that being add-ons

Well they would wouldn't they, you only have to look at some of the valuations some of the deluded Palace fans put on Bolasie, Dann, and one or two others, a player is only worth what the buying club is prepared to pay, and not to many clubs will pay £15-20m + for an unproven Championship player.

Selling Gayle and then deciding to play 442. Beggars belief...

Ffs give it a rest. Perhaps there were problems with Gayle we do not know about.

I figured someone would state the bleeding obvious but i didn't think it'd be you tbh.
It shows how Forest fans feel about Burke, regardless of his actual market valuation. As has been pointed out, our fans have similar valuations when it comes to some of our better players.
Anything around the £10mil mark is about right in my book.

Pulis was the only manager that got the most out of him and even he admitted he needed an arm round the shoulder and constant reassurance. He said when he (Pulis) first arrived at Palace he was aloof and distant from the rest of the squad. Always seemed morose and sulky.
I gather none of his other managers at Palace could be bothered with all that. Why would they? As professionals they are at least responsible for their own attitude!
