Having heard details today, there's no way he didn't know her age. Along the lines of

"Where do you go out?"
"I'm too young to go out"
"You look old enough to me"

Even if his argument was he thought she was 16... What kind of 28 year old wants to get with a 16 y.o?

He's f***ed.

Rolf looks like he was up to no good with girls as young as 13 when he was in his 40's and 50's which puts him in deeper nonce territory. [Link]

As for Johnson at his age - a 15 year old is still a child and not even a young adult. I say that as a 28 year old teacher back in the nineties who taught hundreds of 15 year old girls English. They might have curvy figures, etc, but emotionally they are still kids and any adult who ignores that is a wrong 'un. Absolutely no excuses and no mitigating factors about other countries age of consent.

The more enlightened ones limit that age of consent to their partners not being much older than them. A 28 year old would still be a nonce/criminal.

He's clearly done something wrong but think a lot of the reactions has been a bit over the top. The way people are talking are like he raped a five year old not had consenting sex. In many countries, this wouldn't have been an issue as ages of consent vary.

For me morally, the basic questions are:

1. Was it consenting sex?
2. If a 15 year old lad had sex with Taylor Swift what would we all think?
3. Has a crime been committed

As the answer to number 3 is yes, then he deserves punishment but I think putting it into context is important when thinking about it.

Context: I have a 12 yr old daughter, if in 3 years time a 28 yr old man tried it on with her, KNOWING she is 15 then it wouldn't be the police he would have to worry about.

A 17 year old would be the max for my daughter when she is 15 and any older serious alarm bells would start ringing.

An extremely valid post. There's no doubt he has done wrong, committed a crime and abused his position but at 15 - she is capable of saying yes or no. I've no doubt if she said no, he would've probably pestered her for a bit and then gone away to work on somebody else as footballers do.

As Cardiff Eagle has stated, what if Taylor Swift had slept with a 15 year old boy? Yes, she to would have to deal with the consequences but I suspect this thread would be a lot more light hearted with plenty of high fives for the 15 year old boy!

You are on the wrong track with that one. There is a reason why the law says kids that age cannot consent even if they say 'yes' as thousands of abused kids have, whether it was priests, older relatives, friendly strangers doing the asking. I say asking but it is actually called 'grooming'. Persuading/controling the person so they agree.

Your angle, though kinda innocently put, is exactly what a paedophile/pederast would use by way of mitigating what they do - 'She said 'yes - she seemed to enjoy it. I was nice to her' etc.

Indeed and when you read what's come out in court, there is absolutely no doubt that he new what he was doing and more importantly that it was wrong.

Ok, getting into an area that is dodgy in terms of a website conversation! A paedophile is sick and will stop at nothing to get at his target. No matter what age. Yes, no - makes no difference.

My thoughts are that AJ isn't sick, he is a footballer with a massive ego and wallet so much so that he probably thinks he is above the law as a lot of footballers do with his brains in his pants. But I stand by the fact that a 15 year old is capable of saying no to advances. The fault lays solely with him, but is he a paedophile? Not in a million years. If she had told him where to go I suspect he wouldn't be in court.

I have first hand experiences of watching a Palace player from the past do exactly the same thing to a friend of mine. She told him to f*** off and he did.

That says a lot about you. He's a 28 year old who was grooming a 15 year old (only just 15). He probably could have had his pick of any number of girls in their 20s but went for a girl he knew to be 15.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.
