FFS, and some bloke on the radio earlier today saying that their bowlers wouldn't trouble England, garbage.

We came within 15 runs of causing an upset. Not all that bad, surely?

Feel pretty disappointed right now. England shouldn't be losing to Bangladesh and poor old Jos Buttler was left with too much to do.

I personally feel the captaincy and management of the team was poor. Why they persisted with and out of form Finn and Ballance is beyond me. Hales should have been playing a long time ago and only played his first game today.

One things for sure the demand for KP to return will increase now England have crashed out and I wouldn't be surprised if the new chairman has a word.

England need to:

- reduce the number of test matches and focus more on One Day Cricket.
- Revamp their domestic T20 competition to have 8 teams similar to the IPL.
- Get Kevin Pietersen back into the fold.
- Get in a foreign coach who knows what they are doing. Micky Arthur or maybe even Jason Gillespie at Yorkshire.
- Start showing some international/domestic cricket on terrestrial television so the next generation can be inspired to take up cricket.

That is something that I heartily disagree with as Test cricket should come first and foremost and all other forms of the game are just fillers

Get rid of this notion that you should play your natural game. It annoys me when stroke players start playing shots when we're in trouble, it's been like that for a while though. Like Goughie not wanting to bowl a slower ball because it would bring his speed averages down.

Totally agree - tests are the pinnacle, ODIs are for fun, and T20 is for those without the attention span to follow the whole game.

Having said that, there is no way we ought to be losing to the likes of Bangladesh in any form of the game! If we enter, we should aim to win, if you're not bothered, then don't enter (I wouldn't personally care if we just didn't bother, it would be far better than turning up and going through the motions).

Unfortunately, T20 is here to stay - And is a large Part of the Game nowadays. It is also ruining test cricket, which is a mighty shame.

It seems that cricket playing nations either need to cater for both forms of the game, or choose one they wish to excel in. Some of the smaller Cricketing nations don't really have the luxury/resources to do both, but I would Fully expect England to be able to.
we Seems to have stuck-in-the-past grudge holding Selectors/Management/Coaches who refuse to accept change.
In Most cases, there needs to be 2 seperate teams - a t20/One Day and a Test team. There will be some cross-overs, but there should also be players (and coaches) only associated to the side that they are selected for. That would be a start.

Same here, I'd rather we gave up ODIs than do that.

The rest of your points, except maybe terrestrial TV games, are fair enough PDS.

Peter Moores wants to carry on as coach. Errr.... f*** off Peter.

Agreed. Test cricket is what it's all about. T20/baseball can do one as far as I'm concerned. Good fun for a boozy Friday night at The Oval but nothing else.

As for the World Cup, I didn't expect much but I didn't think it would be this bad. Morgan should resign as captain, his form is woeful, he clearly can't cope with the pressure. KP should come back in, he is the only world-class explosive batsman we have. Was impressed with Jordans bowling this morning so hopefully we'll see more of him.

Guess it can't get any worse eh?!

I'm not sure that it's a matter of pressure. Cooke was cast aside as both captain and player as his recent form just wasn't good enough but was replaced as captain with someone who's recent form was even worse so what did they really expect.

Australia made George Bailey captain in the shortest form of the game and everyone outside of Australia said "who?"

Perhaps we should also think outside of the box and appoint someone like James Taylor as captain and see how he fares. He captains Notts in the one day format and has also captained England Lions so obviously knows what it's all about

Only because Clarke was injured, and they dropped Bailey once Clarke was available again. Let's not make out like it was a stroke of genius.

I don't agree that he was unknown outside of Australia either.

Change is needed, but start with the coach and let him decide on a new captain.

A few pointers towards our downfall :-

1. Peter Moores - I still advocate that if you have never played international cricket, then how can you coach players towards an international game.

2. T20 - this has had a massive impact on ODI's. You are now seeing sides adopt a T20 attack to ODI's. 300+ almost seems to be the norm nowdays, rather than the exception it used to be.

3. Indian Premier League - the lack of English players in the Indian premier league over the years has now started to properly kick in. Australia, South Africa, West Indies have had many players in this league for ages, and they have managed to up their game by playing against the very best twice or more a week.

4. Your best test players don't necessarily make the best ODI players.
Apart from his debut World Cup, Jimmy Anderson has never been a good ODI player, and I think Stuart Broad may also considered the same. Gary Ballance seems to have become a better test player then ODI.

5. Start choosing specialist ODI players, and I'm thinking of Jason Roy, James Vince, perhaps even Sam Billings as wicketkeeper (use Jos Buttler as specialist batsman).
