Worse than a bellend. My dog is called Bellaend and I'm piping up on her behalf as she would never want to be associated with such a total tool.

It's the modern day socia economic practices that he is arguing against
Cowardice or reticence?
WORRIED that your teeth will be stained after a heavy night drinking red wine? Fear not; drink a bottle of white wine before going to bed, to remove the stains. |

Rarely heard someone hit the nail on the head as completely as this: [Link] Summarised, doesn't that basically boil down to "there's more to life than basic human desires, humanity should aspire to something better, be nice and chill out a bit". Hard to disagree with, but it's such a broad suggestion that it doesn't really inspire anything in particular. And most people wouldn't have both the patience and vocabulary to listen to him.
We live in a society where the ego is all. Individuality is celebrated, and collectivised activism is on a downward spiral. That is a general assertion, and there are counter-examples, but it's broadly true. Economically it has been called libertarianism, the liberation of capital from the monopoly of the state in to private hands, and it's summed up in the bullsh*t mantras of modern Capitalism: 'anyone can achieve anything if they work hard enough' and so on. To even suggest that unified progression is the only credible path for humankind is controversial. I recently read a list the Tory's put out of their successes since 2010 and it included a 20% reduction in union membership. A success!? The social antipathy towards any form of protest, demonstration or strike only emphasises that people working together to improve their lot is on the decrease. Brand is arguing, in a spiritual sense, that we must reject the sense of the ego, the individual, as key to particularly economic progress, and focus on working together for each other. Oh and just as an add on, for those claiming that there are no genuine left-wing alternatives given to Capitalism, I stumbled across this earlier. Not something I wholly agree with but nonetheless of interest... [Link]

Brand is arguing, in a spiritual sense, that we must reject the sense of the ego, the individual, as key to particularly economic progress, and focus on working together for each other. Ed Miliband used the word "together" 44 times in his conference speech. He leads a party which "believes that by the strength of our common endeavour we achieve more than we achieve alone". Even if Russell Brand was the only voice for collectivism, what has he actually suggested people do en masse? The main action I've heard him endorsing is abstention from voting, which achieves nothing. Quote serial thriller at 10 Nov 2014 8.35pm
Oh and just as an add on, for those claiming that there are no genuine left-wing alternatives given to Capitalism, I stumbled across this earlier. Not something I wholly agree with but nonetheless of interest... [Link] The problem with the far left is there's 50 different versions of it and none of them can even agree with each other. Ironic, given they purportedly support collectivism.

He looks like Jesus, but his choice of disciples (Wossy) leaves much to be desired. He a very naughty boy. Its ok, he'll be fixated on something else in a few years. The picture of him on the Anonymous demo showing his face says it all. A well meaning prick consumed by his own ego, who without making any real engagement in a subject has catapulted his ego to the forefront.

Nothing is a cruel as the righteousness of innocence (Ignorance) with automatic weapons and a gospel of the truth. The problem is that people always think 'their answers' are the right answers. It'd be nice if humanity could move away from the idea of everyone having to follow the right truth, to letting people have their own life and own truth.
