No one likes to admit Nicky Chatterton was crap, but he was.

Indeed he was

A player who I thought was superb back in the sixties was Chelsea's Bobby Tambling. He scored over 200 goals for them. I was a teenager when he signed for Palace and was so excited by his signing. This was a top class player in his day at Chelsea. As excited as I was to see him in a Palace shirt he wasn't the top class player for us and was on his way down I'm afraid. Don't get me wrong, he wasn't crap and he did put in some good games for us. But was never the prolific scorer that he was for Chelsea. Mind you he did get a 2 goals for us in the Anglo Italian Tournement away at Inter Milan. I think we were the first British team to beat then on there home soil.

Can't look past Claude Davis. He was f*cking brilliant and f*cking awful at the same time. My favourite memory is him taking a shot square in the chest against Villa in the FA Cup and him just standing there completely unmoved for a couple of seconds instead of falling over like most players would. Was hilarious, he was a scary bloke.

Alan Lee - Head down, running like he was Ian Curtis, massive header re Sheff Weds

And as an adage...

Darren Patterson - Couldn't time a tackle

"they gave it everything, every ounce of blood, sweat and guts. They battled, they never ducked a challenge and, as their fans ripped their T-shirts off in the stands, creating the kind of heady atmosphere that has turned Selhurst Park into an amphitheatre" Matthew Syed

Mick has a particular little corner of my heart as he scored the first Palace goal I ever saw when we beat Bobby Charltons Preston 1-0 on 24th September 1974 - League Division Three.

Header in front of the Holmesdale, Sir Combover played for them and my memory might be playing tricks but I think Nobby Stiles might have turned out for them as well.

I was 7 - I cant actually remember Mick scoring anymore after that
