Mate of mine who went up tonight told me they were in a pub earlier but told to stay put as roof tiles and dangerous debris was flying around.

It wasn't Everton who called it off, they'd been doing all they could to put the game on, in was the OB ordered them not to play when tiles & masonry started flying about the streets around the ground.

Parish blasts decision to call game off:

Crystal Palace chairman says decision to call off Everton match was a 'shambles'

THE late decision to postpone Crystal Palace's match at Everton on Wednesday night has been blasted by Eagles co-chairman Steve Parish.

The Goodison Park clash was called off just 30 mins before kick-off, despite a severe weather warning being in place for the north-west for several hours before.

Police advised the match be postponed for safety reasons relating to houses outside the ground, but Parish was left distinctly unimpressed by the last-minute change of heart.

He Tweeted: "What an absolute shambles, just got home, 7 hours in the car longer for the fans on the coaches!!"

Parish then added: "Asked to delay kick off, to get fans coaches there, told there were no problems and no need to be delayed, 20 mins later games called off!"

I may be a bit optimistic, but surely a club is responsible for out of pocket expenses like travel and tickets for travelling supporters who turn up only to find the game's cancelled at the last minute.

One guy reckons it cost him 170 quid, including overnight accommodation. Surely CPFC get insurance covering any costs they incur because of the cancellation? Can't the club extend that to their loyal fans who were prepared to brave the elements to support the team?

If anyone can produce a ticket, fare and accommodation costs incurred in this debacle they should be refunded by CPFC. Is that too much to ask?

I believe if people go on official coaches they will get a free ticket to the rearranged game

But those who went by car or train get nothing

Trivial fact - Palace used to win 5-1 at least once a season, maybe next season?

I was one of the few who actually made it to the ground and was mid pint when the announcement was made. There can't have been more than fifty or so fans in the ground with half an hour to go before kick off. Although we drove up and had no real issues - yeah it was windy but surely the majority of fans would have been in or around the ground already with 30 mins to go before kick off? After being kicked out we then walked back to the car park with no problems no tiles, no glass - a massive over reaction. Either call it off hours before or stick to your decision (emergencies excluded)

Anyone want to buy a program!

Just to let you know lads/lasses it had nothing to do with Efc, everything was fine at 6:45 when team was announced, then something happened to commercial property on 1 side of the ground, then a chimney collapsed on 1 of the roads leading up to the ground and the 1 that was the crunch, tiles started falling off the pub roof which is right outside the main entrance and which is the busiest street for match goers. Police closed the street off leaving them no option but to call the match off.
Hope you can make it back, heard also some of your lot were put up in hotels on behalf of the local council

Not entirely true as it's been well said on here that the coaches were having a nightmare getting up. Myself and a number of other Palace were drinking in the city centre pre game so we found out in the cab on the way there.

Might not have been a lot inside the ground but plenty of us up in Liverpool and not quite near the ground when it was announced.
