I can't wait for a couple of players to come out, then we can stop banging on about it.

The sexuality, religious belief, personal hygiene habits, and dietary requirements of players doesn't matter a toss to me so long as they can play football. Our players will still be supported by our fans if they come out, players for other teams will still receive dogs abuse from our fans whether they come out or not.

I remember (in no particular order)
* he's got a tea towel on his head (Sodje at Crewe?)
* he's got a pineaplle on his head (can't remember his name - dodgy haircut)
* Nicky someone who's name eludes me - played for England I think, every time he came to take a corner getting abused about his weight (to the extent that he lifted his shirt at one stage to reveal a pretty impressive six-pack)

just get it over and done with already!

As Lisa Simpson said when watching a Pride march with people shouting "we're here, we're queer, get used to it": You're here every year, we ARE used to it

The p*ss taking out of Jason Lee and his pineapple actually affected him quite badly mentally. I remember reading in the past it put him in a bad way in the end. Endlessly banging on about something related to how you are is always going to take a toll, it isn't just harmless.

In which case he should simply have grown a pair or cut his f***ing ridiculous hair.

He could have worked in a car plant with that or Sainsburys and he would have been ridiculed.

As for this campaign - anything that raises equality is obviously laudable - although I am struggling to understand where this 'prejudice' and homophobia actually lies on the terraces

I would suggest the problem lies more within clubs, players and the meejia... Graeme Le Saux wrote a good piece about his experiences, especially with Scouse Cocaine king Robbie Fowler

Campaign director Lou Englefield added: "This isn't just about players coming out. It's about all of us - including heterosexual players and fans who attend matches week in week out - being willing to speak out and take visible action to challenge prejudice in the game."

Challenge what prejudice ??????

I remember a young John Barnes being pelted with bananas at Everton - I have yet to see a footballer coming under fire from a hail of dildo's when he is trying to take a corner

Edited by The Sash (06 Feb 2014 10.57am)

I don't know Dildo, is he big in bananas?

Brazillian lad, West Ham tried to sign him on deadline day

I never did understand why Jason Lee didn't get his hair cut.

Oh, it was Nicky Barnby, by the way (just came to me).

So, yes, Jason Lee was affected by people taking the p*ss out of his hair, so are we just reverting here to a "don't be horrid, Henry" campaign?

I've not heard any homophobic abuse directed at players (I can't even recall whether Le Saux copped any when those rumours were flying about). I just don't see this big problem people are campaigning against. Until someone has enough b0llocks to come out, then I'm not sure what will happen. I don't know what experience Justin Fashanu had, but he played on (sort of) for 8 years after his announcement, and clocked up 41 appearances for Orient

Fair point about the campaign, but I don't think Homophobia and rracism are equal issues.

Some of the stupid homophobic bulls*** that people spout on these kinds of threads makes me ashamed to be a Palace fan sometimes.......i'm glad you idiots are the minority.

If you dont like it why not just f##k off and read the Guardian instead.Im actually proud that many of our fans make their own mind up on issues rather than be brainwashed by the liberal elite.

Typical response.......so you're proud of Palace fans expressing their opinion except me????? I'm a liberal because I don't agree that people campaigning for the rights of gay people should be ridiculed on this forum??? Do you even know what Liberal means???

Looks like a few people on here have intelligence at the same level as their understanding and compassion for how other human being choose to live their lives.

When some really believe anti-homphobes are in the minority it's easy to understand why people resort to such offensive remarks. Once they (eventually) realise it is a majority who are not just non-gay but actually support the rights and sensibilties of the gay community, then this whole ridiculous issue will die off. If puntuation-challenged posters cannot see how their shortcoming makes a mockery of their post, then it must be equally difficult for them to take on an even more challenging concept as homosexuallity.

Just out of curiosity what rights haven't gay people got that they feel are very important right now and should have?

Oh dear had it been a punctuation error, rather than spelling, that would have been perfect.

Agree with your general sentiments, though!
