Marange - Not paying any wages on him.

Dobbie - Could get him loaned out again if needs be.

Phillips - Gone to Leics. Needed cover whilst here.

Gayle - Probably bought 1 season too early.

Jerome - Good enough for squad where we're at, just can't blast a shot through a keepers flap.

Campana - One for next season.

Hunt - Injured. It happens.

Theres 7 mistakes, players not good enough for the prem at present.

Please dont say some of these are for the future, its NOW we need players.

Wouldnt be acceptable if it was my money that was being spent.

Situations in bold. There's always waste when you get promoted, especially when you lose your lone striker and best player and best winger from the division you came up from. Add to that Moritz being unsuited to being the underdog and 40% possession every week and Garvan having no athleticism and it's a difficult overhaul in one Summer, 4 weeks behind the rest.

We got promoted too soon when not ready, but if we didn't we'd probably not go up till years later. Several of the best players would be tempted away and we'd have the annual £5mil loss to fill.

It's tough being us.

without getting into the rights & wrongs of wages restraints lets look at maybe why we havnt got certain players "over the line".

lets take steven taylor as an example...i have no facts but just a POV to put across.

lets say we agreed a fee for taylor...he is currently contracted to newcastle until the summer of 2016 on lets say 40k a week.

we offer to initially match those terms but with a clause that if we get relegated he takes a paycut to say 30k a week for the 1st season in the champ and another 10k to 20k a week should we not go back up...if that scenario played out he would lose roughly 1.5m in wages.

he is more or less guaranteed that full amount at newcastle until 2016 as they are a lot less likely to go down.

so maybe, just maybe our sticking point isnt offering the money whilst we are in this league, but the clauses and loss in earnings for players if we drop a division.

Steve Browett one hour ago posted this on BBS

"A sizeable budget has been set aside for this transfer window and it's frustrating that nothing has fallen into place yet (and that is nobody's fault). Nobody is panicking though, and that includes Tony."

Highly likely. 2010 are playing the right game by not guaranteeing Prem wages no matter what, especially when players just stay put. If he joined us, would he then move to another club after 2 Champ seasons when the next offer would be £20k per week? Erm, no.

We could of course be Watford

Notice that he didn't deny a rift though.

Who knows if the story is true or not, but you do have to think is this why Dougie Freedman went?

You do have question why Parish went on holiday in the transfer window?

I can't help but feel there is too much interference from SP. TP would have known the transfer budget for January and would have known the salary limits. As long as the players he wants fits with both of those he should be allowed to get in anyone he wants. He is responsible for the playing staff and one of his objectives is to keep us up or so we are led to believe. Let him do his job without false promises or one hand tied behind his back. If he think crouch can do a job and keep us up and is within wage structure and transfer budget then he should be allowed to get him.
I'm not saying that crouch is the man but just using him as an example.
If promises were made to TP to accept the job that are not stuck to then of course I think he would walk. Wouldn't you? He has a million pound bonus (supposedly) for keeping us up. If his ability to achieve that bonus is being hampered by interference then why would he stay.

So some simple sums means that if he stays on his contact at Newcastle it's worth 5.2m to him.

If he moves to us and we go down and don't go back up the contracts worth 3.4m

These are obviously all estimations...but the model stands.

Some may call him a mercenary but I wouldn't move jobs for that kinda deal...if you earn a certain amount of money you live that lifestyle...if anybody hasn't already the books by the secret football are a really good read as it goes into quite a lot of detail on the subject of money and players earnings.

He was told he was going to get the boot if things didn't improve after the 1st few games of last season...effectively given an ultimatum.

I read the other day about a heated argument between him & parish after the Exeter (?) league cup game in the car park but hadn't heard about that until the other day.

We will never know the real reason why DF went.

Yeah it's the chairman's cash but why employ a manager with a 'no relegation' history & bring in Moody too only to not allow them to get on & manage..WTF is SP thinking
