No, that's a 'special' category.

I dont care if we sign a player who is gay, straight bisexual, tranny, hermaphrodite or looks like Lily Savage. All i want is that he scores the goals that keep us up.

We have all the above in GM he will be back soon and "banging em in "

Are you saying GM is gay, straight bisexual, tranny, hermaphrodite and looks like Lily Savage?

Yep

In dog beers I’ve only had one.

I'd be very surprised if TP's scouting network wasn't following the priority order this transfer window:

1) A gay player
2) A strong striker who can score goals
3) Bolster the defence with an experienced centre back

He won't have overlooked the need for a gay player, trust me.

It's about time the Football Manager franchise added players s*xuality to their stats as well because the other day I wanted to find a player with at least 15 for heading, 14 for balance and ideally bi-s*xual but the filters weren't there so I had to settle for someone with unknown s*xuality. I lost 6-0 in my next game.

Thank you for contributing possibly the funniest thing I've read on the internet for a long time

In that case I have no problem, although his missus might want to have a word.

As a openly gay palace season ticket holder ( and there are a good few of us ) I always find it amusing on here, when you guys say there is no homophobia at palace. The chants that come out of the holmesdale have often made me cringe. Most of it believe it or not comes from the younger kids in the lower holmesdale, which is surprising to me, as most say they are " gay friendly" or have gay mates. A gay player at palace or any other club can only be a good thing for sport in general. I have heard of some players who have not yet come out, but I do think its a matter of time.

There's no homophobia at Palace, Deano, only "banter" under the guise of which any and all behaviour is acceptable in a football ground. Didn't you know that?

While I wouldn't suggest it as a priority consideration when looking for new signings, I would be very proud if the first openly gay Premiership player was a Palace player. Just like I was very proud that Palace got involved in the anti-homphobia in football campaign.

It's only a matter of time before a current player does come out. They'll have a rough ride of it too given the seemingly prevailing attitude that homophobic abuse is somehow acceptable in football.

If that did happen (a Palace player comes out as gay), I have a question for those that think homophobic "banter" is acceptable. When opposition team's supporters, or players, abuse that Palace player due to his sexuality - how would you react?

Personally I think the "homophobic" chanting will stop once the first player comes out.

Without trying to belittle your views on this or disrespect them - you are right - I think that the homophobia you hear, as with a lot of football supporter vocalisation over the years, is not really a fear or intolerance or rabid hatred of something but more the immature voice of the mob and individual.

The insecure people who sing such stuff in the street and on their own I bet don't really care about peoples sexuality. But put them in a crowd and they want to make an impression - good or bad. Attention seeking basically.

I think if there was genuine and real deep-set homophobia at Palace a la Zimbabwe you wouldn't go.

Neatly put by Kermit. Its like we all called stuff, and other kids, gay at school but when one of your closest mates tells you he's on that side of the street, you shut up a bit and don't go along with the mob anymore. Must have happened to a few of us down the years.

It took 9 pages but finally we get back to my point. Although you guys have made it more eloqently than I did.

Can we get ready for what I hope is inevitable and pave the way for someone to feel comfortable to be openly gay and a Premiership player. Let it be us, let's be that club, the one that gets a minor comment in the history books because we bucked the trend, stood up to the childish people and supported someone doing something really brave.

And if we get comments like 'Dozens of people on here are taking the piss out of you and hundreds of others are laughing at you' I, for one, couldn't care less. Because we are Palace, we do things we want to do.
