3 were loans...not helping the market again.

Incidentally, I'm sure if we got Zaha back from Man U. on loan for the rest of the season, many here would be delighted with how the market was helping us!

syd you know what i meant when i said the market hasnt "properly" starting moving yet...like i also said tho, its probably simply a case of our targets are not able to be freed by their clubs just yet!

in hindsight john guedetti to stoke may well free up one of their strikers for a move...maybe kenywne jones? incidentially on him theres quite an interesting article here... [Link]

and yes... i think every single palace supporter would be over the moon with zaha back on loan!

syd, it's obvious what brauny is saying and I think you know it too. The transfers you've listed are ones that have got the ball rolling, and they've come at a price in wages. What we're possibly doing is waiting for the chain to start so we pick up whichever player(s) we have on our target list that might be helped along with that chain being in motion and for whichever reasons, the holding club and player being more keen on the idea than they would be if they only have 2 players for that position or £mil left in the agreed annual kitty for example.

It sounds as if we're going to make some moves but not 'big' ones. Again, Parish trying to be a bit clever without overdoing it hopefully, trying to have an edge still if we get relegated, trying to eek out as much for CPFC as he can, thinking outside of the box a bit. Anyone can go out and say they want this player or that player and slap the money down when it's there, it's when YOU AND one OR TWO of the other clubs WILL get relegated is the test. Some managers have in the past liked to just pay Man Utd & Spurs for their cast off's, we've still got to play clever.

A few weeks ago I got on a bit of a roll about Dwight Gayle (who I don't rate) and after more than enough pages, someone suggested that I might want to drop it. I'd made my point and Gayle was still a Palace player. They were right, and I did drop it. Without being told, I think the same is true re: my view of Parrish. I've nailed my colours to the mast and I think I'm going to drop the subject now. This has been an interesting debate and, as I have said, I have moderated some of my views as a result.

my point really was that considering the owners have been subsidising losses of lets say an average of £6m a season from their own pockets since they've taken over then what right do we as fans have to demand they spend more money during their one chance to make/save some money for the club.

In reality we have f*** all right...yes we may spend hundreds, maybe thousands a year supporting the team...but to put it into perspective they spend millions every season just to keep our heads above water.

That isn't true for two reasons. Firstly the club isn't loss making every year as it made a profit last year and will probably do so again this year.

Secondly, as you say the supporters may spend thousands a year supporting the team which is money that they will never see again whilst the directors don't actually spend anything as they invest their money in the club.

Unlike the supporters the directors only lend the money to the club and hope one day that it will be repaid (possibly with interest) The first thing that they did when providing the loan capital was to secure their investments by way of four individual charges against the assets of the company so that if anything where to happen they would have first dibs on the assets and would recover their investments that way.

Secondly the directors are now sitting on a huge potential profit as the company is worth way more than when they bought it due partly to the acquisition of Selhurst Park at the same time and partly to the success of the team on the field

The profit is a moot point because if you check the accounts, the 4 owners have taken no salaries, bonuses or any other kind of drawings out of the club so effectively working for free. Bear in mind the profit this season even with tax relief wouldnt have even covered the prior year loss.

I hope they do make a good return on the club. At the end of the day they dropped £20m to buy us and then funded the club for there on in. They deserve to have their loyalty and balls rewarded frankly.

They have done brilliantly,so they are entitled to say what they like. The club is in the best shape it has been for years, so we should be thankful.
