13.5.89 Palace 4 Birmingham C 1 THAT game against Birmingham. One of the most craziest games i've ever been to if the not the most. This picture looks like it was taken when the players returned to the field after the game was suspended for half an hour after the mother of all riots.

17.12.88 Palace 0 Leeds 0 Disappointing goal-less draw. In the picture is once Palace hero Vince Hilaire, just infront of Geoff Thomas who was playing his last home game for us that season due to a hernia operation. Attachment: h leeds 0-0 17.12.88.jpg (234.47Kb)

24.5.89 Palace 2 Swindon 0 It's play off time! and here is the semi final 2nd leg. 1-0 down from the 1st leg, 1st half goals from Bright and Wright swing it in our favour. 23,677 there and what an amazing atmosphere. One of the best Selhurst nights i can remember. The players prepare for kick off in front of a jammed packed Holmesdale. Attachment: h swindon 2-0 24.5.89 l.jpg (205.67Kb)

Wright takes off towards the Arthur Waite and about to be lifted aloft by our first scorer that night: Mark Bright. The Palace fan with red blazer and fist clenched I think worked at the club. Must've got in to the kids area, sneaky so and so. Attachment: h swindon 2-0 lll.jpg (227.59Kb)

And there it is! Through to the final against Blackburn - easy peasy McGoldrick and Pemberton salute the Old Stand at the final whistle. Attachment: h swindon 2-0 v.jpg (216.27Kb)

And the pitch invasion, getting into practice for a week later. Far right, Dave Madden gets a slap on the back from a levitating Palace fan. Attachment: h swindon vi.jpg (207.25Kb)

3.6.89 Palace 3 Blackburn 0 One of the greatest days to be a Palace fan: Play Off Final 2nd leg. Despite a 3-1 defeat in the first leg, with the likes of Wright and Bright in your team you still felt we had a chance. I can't actually remember many games i felt more nervous about before kick off. A 30,000 crowd saw Wrighty put us in front, then early in the 2nd half referee George Courtney (who became a lucky charm as he refereed the Liverpool Semi the year after) gave us an unusual penalty. Brighty was taken out by Hendry on the edge of the area but Courtney seemed to allow play to continue, then McGoldrick goes down a little softly and he points to the spot. Not sure how he came to the decision but somehow i think he got it right. Cue Dave Madden and that celebration. After one hour of relentless Palace pressure, there then followed a stalemate where Palace suddenley realised they were back in it and both clubs seemed scared to truely go at the other. There were a few close shaves here and there - Garner notably - then Wrighty bangs in the third and the place goes potty! What celebrations! What a day - and night! - that was. Me, my brother and mate ended up in Crystals that night dancing and celebrating the night away with the likes of Thomas, Pembo, Salako, Barber.....great memories.
