Remember one trip down to the Goldstone ground (year eludes me, must have been 80's) The details leading up to the event are kind of a blur, but we ended up in the back of the Brighton terrace. After being "sussed" with a rather depleted Palace contingent, it was all back to the wall stuff until the police managed to section us off from the weed. It was looking pretty ominous at one point.

Liverpool away FA Cup 3rd round Jan 1977. Because we had the gall to go there and get a 0-0 draw their wonderful fans from the Kop decided to beat up as many Palace fans as they could outside the ground. My Dad wrote to the then Liverpool Chairman, John Smith, to complain and we received a reply along the lines of "that sort of thing does not happen at Anfield". Oh yes it did matey and subsequent events a few years later spoke for themselves.
On the same day that we were at Anfield Everton were at home to Stoke. Yes, true! Both teams at home at the same time. It would never happen now. And it was thanks to Everton fans that, after a walk that seemed like miles, we managed to get back ti Lime Street in one piece.
Unfortunately Palace lost the replay 3-2 but Doris Hinshelwood scored a screamer as I remember.
My other bad experience was being chased after a 2-1 Friday night win at Southend back to Prittlewell station. Luckily I was much younger and quicker back then!

remember some dodgy days would have been early 80s arsenal away we lost 3 2 derby oldham luton and a fa cup replay at burnley were all lively days and one of our first visits to new den before walkway to station

i went to this one as well with my step-dad,future brother in-law and a few of his mates. I was only 15 at the time. seem to remember we had a couple of special trains that day,5 or 6,ooo palace fans.got chased around the shopping centre and got bashed by a few of the liverpool locals,luckily my step-dad and his pals were capable of looking after themselves but still two of 'em ended up with a black eye and bloodied noses. game woz great with us all in the paddock side. on way out being escorted back to lime street with bricks n bottles coming at us then half way up the road the police disappeared then we got attacked by everton fans! great sing song on train back to london tho'.

orient away was my first scare 75 i think , i was about 8 , on a coach of just normal supporters ( men / women ) when it was bricked , wolves in 80 same coach again , i was about 12 , got just near the ground and there was f*cking hundreds of them , they see us and started running towards us and in the distance coming out the underpass you could hear some chanting , which got louder and louder , then you could hear " the palace , clap clap clap , the palace " which stopped them in their tracks , and the train lot came out of the underpass , about 500 strong , see what was happening and charged them , but they didn't hang around , forest 80 , they were lobbing darts and money , came back with more than we went with , 80 against man city ( clive allen one ) was abit hectic , cup match against millwall 84ish , in the arthur , we scored , everyone jumping up and down , they score , only me and my mate lee wasn't jumping around , our faces must of been a picture , fark , leicester at home 84ish , kicked off during and after , got trod on by an old bill horse , foot still hurts when i think about that one , liverpool / everton during the 80's with their stanleys , swansea at cardiff ( cup replay ) fella got stabbed , but i remember it more personally for wearing chelsea dealers and sliding down the stairs and being caught by a big welsh bloke as i was about to go over the edge , that was scary i tell ya haha , knew some of the boys but for some strange reason can't remember names , strange that

Leeds away 76 in our FA cup run. Courtesy buses from ground to station were stoned almost to destruction while the driver sat nonchalantly poodling along in a wire mesh cage. Every window was smashed while we all lay flat on the floor of the bus to avoid the onslaught. Anyone there that day will remember the surrounding area near Elland Rd was under re-development and was just a huge demolition site that provided all the Leeds fans with all the ammo they wanted. Great day though and terrific journey home on the train- even though that got stoned as well from the bridge above the platform while we waited to leave.
The away match at Cardiff when we got relegated to old div 3 runs it close though- spat on all night and coaches smashed when leaving ground.
