26 EU countries on the road to a kind of hell and us, the one to differ, on the road to redemption, you mean? That could also be seen as arrogant and false. Where did I say that? Why twist words like that? What I said was that the British people voted against being part of a Federal Superstate. That is the democratic will of the people and must be respected. It is clear that the establishment cannot be trusted on the EU and has led countries to this point by stealth, bullying or ignoring democracy. What makes you think the 26 countries in the EU want a Federal Superstate? The Eastern Europeans don’t, nor do the Nordics or the likes of Greece. What makes you think they are aligned?

Some of the British people. A tiny majority and I'm not as sure all of them would have been as au fait with the intricacies of potential EU evolution as you seem to be. There were a variety of reasons they voted Leave with immigration, money, and sovereignty all being mentioned consistently backed up with general resentment. You can't speak for them as say "They voted against being part of a Federal Superstate" just because that was your main reason for doing so. It's disingenuous. You don't know why exactly they voted Leave because there wasn't one overriding issue.

The EU27’s chief negotiator, however, cast doubt on Sunday as to whether the government would be allowed sufficient flexibility to strike such a deal on Sunday. In an interview with Prospect magazine, Michel Barnier said: “They have to realise there won’t be any cherry picking. We won’t mix up the various scenarios to create a specific one and accommodate their wishes, mixing, for instance, the advantages of the Norwegian model, member of the single market, with the simple requirements of the Canadian one. No way. They have to face the consequences of their own decision.” Barnier also reiterated the EU’s insistence that detailed talks on a future trade deal will only begin after Brexit. Davis has insisted the substance of a trade deal could be in place within the next 12 months. “The actual negotiations on the future relationship will only begin once the UK leaves the EU,” he said. Tory rebels urge Theresa May to form cross-party alliance for soft Brexit
There s just too many variables to even guess what the final outcome will be. But if there were a range of reasons for voting for Brexit, not all leavers will get the Brexit means Brexit they thought they were voting for. Edited by nickgusset (17 Dec 2017 8.55pm)

Which should tell you all you need to know. Explain. Yes, I know the EU has its faults, but for all that overall, in the last four decades, in all its incarnations it has served us and Europe well generally considering the state of the place back in the 50's. You been called up yet? No, me neither. You enjoying the cleaner river and sea? Yep, me too. Do you think our relatives from the 1950's and 1960's would gasp in awe about our general standard of living today with all the mod cons and the amazing variety of choice in foodstuffs we have? Yes, me too. And not many of them had been on a plane or abroad. 'What do you mean Rome for £99 return?' That's the same as £9 back in '65' Fantastic'.

Lol - you are presuming that by not joining the EU Britain would have been in a time warp.

Most of this due to the free market economy for all its faults.
