Makes not one imperial ounce of difference. We're leaving and that's that. Get used to it? Nope. "Hopes and fears are that “amendment 7” will mean the Article 50 notification would become invalid at the end of the two year period if lawmakers haven’t signed off on the new relationship by that time. This is because the amendment makes the legal validity of Britain’s exit subject to a succesful vote on the final Brexit deal and Article 50 itself state that a member state may only leave the EU in accordance with its own constitutional requirements. “Clause 9, page 6, line 45, at end insert “, subject to the prior enactment of a statute by Parliament approving the final terms of withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union.” Member’s explanatory statement To require the final deal with the EU to be approved by statute passed by Parliament,” the amendment reads."

That Dominic Grieve chappie, Tory rebel, talks a lot of sense. Soft Brexit looking more likely, or at the very least the dangerous and myopic Hard Brexiteers have had the rug pulled out from underneath them.

Institute for Government on DD: The speaker has found the secretary of state for exiting the EU, David Davis, not to be in contempt of parliament. However, the government has shown contempt for the principle of making decisions based on thorough evidence and analysis. David Davis said to the Commons committee on exiting the EU that the government had not undertaken formal impact assessments of Brexit. This not only appeared to contradict previous ministerial assertions but also showed a disregard for the principle of making decisions based on thorough evidence and analysis. This is no way to approach such a profound change in the UK’s relationship with close trading partners and allies. Brexit will affect businesses and the UK economy more than any other decision made by government in recent years. To forge ahead and enter negotiations with the EU without the benefit of extensive analysis of the potential risks, costs and benefits is reckless.

One way or an other, we are leaving. One way or an other, there will be a compromise. The left w***ing off about Dominic Grieve is hilarious. The right w***ing off about Gisele Stuart is hilarious. For f***s sake, look at this situation for what it is.

He's also my local MP and he has not shied away from standing up for both conscience and his constituents ahead of party interests. Proud of Bob Neill:
